You have to get your ass up and do something. Learning the language is the absolute minimum. Sometimes I wish it was different and we were a bit more socialising and outgoing. But we aren't.
Its a two way thing, we avoid interacting with them because they are weird and generally unpleasant and they avoid us because we are degenerate or however the prayer mat is rolled
