We were in germany on a school field trip and were given a few hours free time, we loitered in front of a mall and one of us started smoking(clearly marked smoking zone, had a trash can that had the thing on top for putting out cigs). A lone mother holding a small child walked past and started covering it's eyes once it saw my classmate smoking. I think this is a way to force a pavlovian response to see smoking negatively.Everyone saw this, nobody said anything.There was also reverse culture shock as in why very few people here have that kind of response, just indifference.
