No. He's right. There's only so much lipstick you can put on a Frenchman. Brazil needs to learn from Malaysia/Thailand and even Vietnam. Our houses were like that decades ago. Send their town planners, engineers and architects here. We have the same climate and similar vegetation. Our housing developers can build sturdy double storey brick & concrete houses in the thousands within one year at spec and at low cost. I'm fascinated by life inside of favelas. There's only so much you can see walking around them on Google street view. You can't go down the really narrow alleys, and even then there's still a maze of rooms and interconnected buildings off the street like in this videos.
Do any Brazilians ITT know of any Youtube channels that show the inside of favelas? Not just typical walking tour stuff, I want to see the even grimier back of house.

Brazil already has some of the best modern architecture and engineering in the world.
Favelados live in favelas because they want to. There's no point in trying to help. You can give them perfectly fine buildings for free and they will turn them into favelas a few years later.
