It was cheaper than Japan

Japan still is like that if you go literally anywhere that isn't Tokyo or Osaka, go to Sendai, Sapporo, Nagoya, Nagasaki, there you'll see the true Japan, but you're right, Taiwan is underrated and probably the best country to live in Asia right now.
