How come I never heard Estonians, Latvians or Lithuanians talk about having fought Japan during the Russo-Japanese War?

I always see Indians talk about the various wars under the British, and even Ghanaians talk about having fought the Japanese under the British, but never see Balts talk about fighting the Japanese under the Russians.

Which countries do and don't recognize their countrymen's historical colonial service?
