Coming from shithole Canada and unfortunately having to go back, I will say Mexico is a much more beautiful country, with much much better architecture than the soulless suburbia and grey commieblocks of Canada, and much higher quality people.

Especially the interiors are vastly different.What you mean is the New Oldtown, which is a recent reconstruction project. Here a former 1960s administration building was demolished to rebuilt parts of the early modern architecture. But only a few buildings are 1 to 1 reconstructions. The majority only imitate the historic silhouettes and use modern materials.
Here a good example of such a silhouette imitation. It's still nice to look at imo but as the other german has said: the whole area is only there for consumption.
