Life in this country at the current stage is ok but Japan is lagging behind technologically and there is no prospect of hoping for economic growth. I haven't been to China yet, but people interested in the latest software or AI would find living there attractive. One thing I can say is that Westerners' view of China is stuck 20 years in the past.
Probably Japan, I bet China has more things to see, but it looks too hardcore in competitiveness and work culture, even compared to their neighbor
