The experience of a student in an incel shithole like India is going to be very different from someone in Mexico, likewise the experience in South Korea is very different from the US; culture plays a big part in attitudes towards education and uni experience.The other assumption is that firstie students all party and don't care while thirdie ones study hard. Maybe you're comparing your med school experience where you had to work like a dog (same case everywhere in the world, med school is the most brutal shit) with the frat boy party lifestyle you see in the media (those people are usually doing meme degrees anyway). I've seen plenty of thirdie students in my uni and surroundings putting in the minimal effort as well, and I'm sure there's many a nerd in a firstie uni busting their ass to rank first in class.

Not just in uni but students come out better rounded and better educated at each level of the system. You have no idea how bad some of the uni students and even teachers I know are, no idea (no idea).2- The connection between university and industry/economy is much stronger in developed countries. The pipeline from degree to internship to work is a real thing, so you're more likely to immediately increase your knowledge and actually use what you've studied and gain experience. In thirdie shitholes the default pipeline is a degree into unemployment or meme work that doesn't use your degree, you stagnate that way.3- The education systems in developed countries are better structured to weed out people who need an academic schooling from those who don't; starting in middle/high school you're already put on track for either a more theoretical education or a more practical training, and that extends into university. You end up with less people who go into uni just because that's the only viable path socially or professionally, and needlessly doing difficult coursework when they could be gainfully employed instead. I think you're partly right about attitudes towards education though. Firsties don't put as much emphasis on academia and going as far as possible in it, they value education but within its practical limits, they are happy to leave school and make money ASAP, and mostly academia doesn't pay as much as industry so there isn't that incentive to keep going. Thirdies will often keep indefinitely trying to climb the academic ladder because in those countries academia is a much better sector to work at, and also they seem to have something to prove due to bigger insecurities about their place in the world, this applies to both thirdies and immigrants to firstie countries from thirdie backgrounds/second gen.
