In the Japanse videogame Drakengard, the main antagonist is a god who wants to destroy the Human species, this god is evil and causes much suffering to Humans. In the Japanese release of the game, this malevolent deity is only referred to in the singular as 'god', but in the English release of the game, all references to this deity were changed to the plural 'gods' so as not to offend Christians.

I must admit I have not played, but from what I have seen, great atmosphere that captures the desperation of the situation.

it's pretty fun if you like musou games, but it's more like dw2 or 3 so it's kinda rough compared to modern musou games

I'm not sure the characters who speak of God or gods in the game are supposed to be talking about the same object of worship as the cult of the watchers', when these characters are not members of the cult themselves of course.
I could be wrong, though.
The watchers themselves are referred to as angels (tenshi) in the Japanese release btw.
Though the term "watcher" is derived from the Book of Enoch iirc, or some other apocryphal book, for a specific type of angel.
