Today I learnt how Bosnian muslims were born. Basically Croats were at a certain time split between orthodox and catholic and fought each other (lol). Orthodox Croats lost and they had to retreat. They could go to Serbia but because they apparently already hated Serbians, they decided to take shelter in the mountain of Bosnia. A few years later Ottomans invaded and these orthodox croats decided to convert en masse to Islam because they were discriminated by both Serbians for being Croat and Catholic Croats for being Orthodox. Bosnia was part of Croatia, later when it became a banate/kingdom it was a Catholic country inhabited by Croats. The graves of the 'Bosnian' kings are in Croatian monasteries. During the occupation, some Croats and Serbs converted to Islam because of lower taxes. The same as in every country occupied by the Turks.
