Is Poland a first world country IYC?Keep in mind in economic terms there's only the 1st world and the 3rd world. The "second world" was only a geopolitical term denoting the Communist countries opposing the Western countries (with the "third world" meaning the non-aligned, as these countries called themselves).So we're concerning ourselves with what corresponds to the developed and the developing countries.In my view, the developed countries differ from the developing countries in a number of ways other than economic. The key things really are>stable institutions, with reasonable trust in them>rule of law, in fact comparing to third world countries - any law, at all>access to education (not equivalent to public education, for example people in the United States and the United Kingdom have a significant access to education, despite their upper education being mostly private, because the private university infrastructure is robust there and the people have enough wealth to enroll or robust borrowing schemes in place) and of course a good level of education to begin with>good healthcare (longevity is a key factor)>good infrastructure (this one is part economic but also part political and related to the previous points)I think that Poland became a First World country sometime between 2014 and 2018. I can't pinpoint the exact year but it could either be 2015 or 2018. In any way, I believe PL has been firmly first world since 2018.However, here's a picture of the worst street in the "old slum" district of Warsaw, in the Old Praga (or the second worst lol, I can name at least one contender in the Old Praga)It's from 2018. I never ventured to that street before a couple years ago so I'm shocked to see this picture.
