I also think our military should do more active stuff though, it should get more combat experience to be ready for actual war. Our special forces could have been used against ISIS directly, but this wasn't done because the legal hurdles for that are very high and the population is very skeptical about anything like that, dead soldiers would've caused a scandal probably. The French for example did do that though and few if any of them died iirc.
