I have no idea why Balkaners always react so negatively to be called Balkan. Unlike eastern Europe, which has no advantages and only negative stereotypes, the Balkans have a lot of positive associations attached to their name. You can advertise your country abroad with the brand "Balkans" and attract tourists with that, something you can't really do with "eastern Europe". I wish we could call ourselves Balkan rather than EE.

There is also a state-funded tambur ethno group in Ljubljana that plays kolo dances because those were also played on a small part of Slovenian soil, albeit by SC speakers (some of who were my ancestors).

Slovenia is actually the most balanced choice between the west, the south and the east, basically a little heaven on earth, you can get best of three worlds there. Do Slovenes even realize and appreciate it (like Czechs) or they constantly complain (like Poles)?
