Boiled cabbage, plums, kielbasa
>>
I deeply detest sauerkraut stews and fruit in savory dishes, but still I liked bigos every time I've tried it.
>>
is it not common to add mushrooms?
>>
>>225007623
it is
it's a peasant stew you can add and mix pretty much any kind of meat or shrooms you have

Bigos is soooo good love it with forest shrooms too

You’re probably a 2 hour drive away from eatning this, what I would also recommend is fried sauer kraut (kapusta kiszona) with sweet plums. Along with a potato dish it’s the perfect combination and a ungodly fart generator.

Poland is 4-5h from where I'm at if that's what you mean. Dried plums, right? And do you add any specific herbs or spices?

Ama give you the ingredience from the recepcie:
2 kg of sauerkraut (can be with carrots)
2-3 onions
250-350 g pitted dried plums (preferably smoked, or even better, Suska Sechlońska )
200 g raisins (optional, I like to add them)
10 bay leaves
1 tablespoon of allspice seeds
4 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup
5 tablespoons of oil or butter
salt and ground black pepper to taste

It’s very yum and I think that it would be to a german persons liking since you guys eat cabbage too

Fried cabbage with plums:

Peel the onions, cut them into cubes and fry in fat until golden.

I try sauerkraut. When it's very salty and sour, I squeeze out the juice, which I reserve for my mushroom borscht . I cut the cabbage into smaller pieces and place it in a pot.

I add all the dried fruit, onion with oil, honey, and spices. I top up with enough water to cover the cabbage by a finger's thickness.

This homemade, traditional, and for many even Christmas Eve, sauerkraut with dried plums is cooked on low heat for about 2-3 hours until it is very soft, the fruit falls apart slightly and the water evaporates. At the end, I season it with salt and pepper so that it is not too salty!

My 2 cents is that some add flour when frying it after boiling in pot
