I've noticed the usage of metric prefixes varies between countries. Did you know most decent tape measures in Australia are exclusively in millimetres because of this weird quirk?

It's strange because cm is still commonly used, yet for pretty much anything even basic metal working and woodworking, everything is done in mm. Instead of using other prefixes where appropriate, we insist on writing thousands of mm. Other Englishspeaking countries just use cm metric and inches imperial combined tapes.

contrary to popular belief, here in the US all of our tape measures actually come in millimeters, but thats for men to measure how small our clittys are

Here in the Philippines most construction workers and skilled labor don't use tape measures because it takes too long and instead use string or water level tube.

Those are used everywhere. Tape measures have different uses. Not having a tape measure is not faster, it's limiting. Tape measurement combined with basic mathematics is very useful.

yeah well centimeters are only used when measuring penises or other bodily measurement, all the technical stuff is in millimeters and when you got something in millimeters you don't even have to point it out with the "mm" suffix
