I say it's 50/50 they can speak some Welsh and probably a lot more can read it. With how much better integrated it's becoming with the education, I'd say that number is higher in younger generations. Welsh knowledge in Wales is better than Gaelic in Ireland. Today Gaelic is taught in schools and is mandatory, but outside of Gaelscoils the quality is a bit shite. Use is restricted to Gaeltachts and specific Gaelic speaking events/social settings.
