At the shop I worked at we mostly dealt with stock size between 1-5mm and there was an overhead crane for moving stock so there was no heavy lifting involved. I was at the same age as the daughter of the owner and when she needed extra pocket money she would sometimes come to work on Saturdays and she'd usually work the laser because there was very little heavy lifting involved, just putting it on the bed, starting the program and once it was done picking the cut pieces.The only scenario I can think of is a combination of heavy stock and parts that were so oddly shaped you had a lot of waste material left over, but removing those would be a 2-3 man job.
