Why can't Americans make money working on these fields? Some of them I can understand, like graphics design is gonna be killed by AI soon, but how can you not make money being medical assistant?
Medical assistants don't make much money. You need to understand that in the US, a lot of jobs are intended to be done by foreigners and pay accordingly. So nurses, farmhands, hotel staff. All make below minimum wage.I was looking at how much it costs to become a medical technician vs how much they get paid, and you may as well work at McDonalds because you'll be making the same amount of money.

>>225121694This is pretty classic chud accounting where you just compare expenditure vs (projected) individual tax revenue, with little regard as to how socially useful the labor is.
>>225121752I have an opinion about this, but voicing it would get me called a slant-eyes commie so>>225122489I wouldn't miss mental health counselor, they don't really do anything.
>>225122746>I wouldn't miss mental health counselor, they don't really do anything. That may be true for you, but for others it can be essential and can provide massive social benefits in terms of externalities.
>>225122746Talking to a psych helped me a lot though
>>225121694medical/dental assistant never required a degree. you get a certificate at a shady school.careers in art, IT, accounting are getting gutted, so people are flooding into healthcare meaning their salaries are going to go lower. this isn't gonna change after muh heckin blue wave either. we are all in on fixing our brain drain with AI and eliminating education.nursing is also heading this direction for example. hospitals don't hire RNs (bachelors holders) or nurse's aides anymore. they hire LVNs (certificate holders) because they get to pay them less and give them more work.just tell your aunt in america to work harder. maybe offer sex massages
trump's administration's asinine approach to life from purely a capital investment point of view aside I do not understand why humanities need universities. From that list let's say English literature. You read a book, you deconstruct a book, you analyse the book, you write about those books in the context of other books and you talk about your findings and the book with other fellow English literature afficionados. What exactly do you need quarter of a million dollars for?
>>225122222even if they make half the minimum wage they would still be making more money than in most countries on the planet and that's even in relative terms when accounting for inflation and taxes, let alone in absolute terms
>>225122851it ensures the country has a protected class of professionals. adding a professional standard to even a subjective field is how said profession evolves.
>>225122772>>225122809Do they provide you actual concrete and helpful advice/solution to your problem instead of saying vague shit to appear deep and philosophical, or are they just some glorified listener?Because if they are, you might as well talk to an AI chatbot and save some money. Or better yet, just make some friends. I guess you can also just bottle up your feeling, suppress your emotion, and use drug, alcohol and violence to cope.>>225122814My aunt is in East Germany, and she's happily retired now, thank you for asking.
>>225122978unironically good for her. tell her to not step foot to any part of this place. i will never serve any of the animals here ever again
>>225122814I'm certain a lot of people attending that type of vocational school also accrue student debt.
>>225121694Some are there for social good like counseling/social work and others are artistic in nature that better society like culinary arts/music and such. They are inherently not meant to be profitable because the industry can't support allowing people to partake of nice things while also paying off those degrees thanks to how inflated college costs are.
>>225122978>Do they provide you actual concrete and helpful advice/solution to your problem instead of saying vague shit to appear deep and philosophical, or are they just some glorified listener?Does it matter? The point is that it's a service that helps a lot of people.>Because if they are, you might as well talk to an AI chatbot and save some money.Allegedly, the actual humanity of the other person is a big part of why it works.>Or better yet, just make some friends.Mental health issues may often be a barrier to this.>I guess you can also just bottle up your feeling, suppress your emotion, and use drug, alcohol and violence to cope. Those are precisely the type of negative externalities I mentioned, which very well may end up costing society more overall than it costs to simply train mental health professionals of various levels.
>>225123008the ones in my area don't offer financing. they suggest a list of third party lenders that are often predatory.but the demographic of people getting into these programs are used to being treated like shit. its usually women with a kid or something. i felt bad for them but they seemed to cozy up to the job easy
>>225121752>make below minimum wage. What does this even mean? If you make below minimum wage then that’s the minimum wage. I thought the whole point of a minimum wage was to guarantee at least a certain wage level?
>>225123187>autistic retard discovers that the law may be broken
>>225122978It's helpful to talk to a real human bean that can snap you out from negative spirals by offering an outside point of view. A huge reason there are so many retarded schizos here is because they never leave their bedrooms to get checked by reality
>>225122851If you don't pay them they all go to finance and tech where they become millionaires by putting taxis on an app or bankrupt billions
>>225123187We got laws about a lot of things that just don't do anything. For example, some states have employment protections in case you get fired for something like your skin color. Most companies make up bullshit reasons for firing you, so they can circumvent these laws.Lots of people in these vocational jobs are underpaid and told to never bring it up to anyone if they want work. OSHA isn't going to help them find a new job if they complain, and they'll probably never be hired by any other company ever again because they'd be known as someone that complains about pay. We're a third world country in case you aren't aware.
