>>225162878In my state it's not great but not awful. Not overcrowded but very understaffed so there's an issue with violence. It's meant to be rehabilitative in many facilities though. They have libraries, video games, classes, and handicrafts to keep them busy. Some states have facilities that are probably on par with Stalin's gulags. Think people starving, being eaten by insects, getting scalded to death by guards, being locked naked in freezing rooms half flooded and covered in shit, etc.
