>>225524605There is no sign of English losing relevance, it's the very opposite in fact. The world is only becoming more anglicized. And even if English really was waning, what language could possibly replace it? It took the cultural weight of the two most powerful empires in history to replace the deeply entrenched position that the French language held in the West. And it was already a relevant language in many aspects long before it completely replaced French. But today, do you know a single word of Chinese? Is there any reason to believe Mandarin would somehow replace English worldwide and within the West when not even China's neighbours bother to learn it? The only reason you believe it is because you think languages become relevant simply because of how economically powerful a country is. No one's learning fucking German. No one is learning Chinese. No one bothered to learn Japanese during its economic height except weebs decades later. And there is no reason to believe English will transform into some sort of pidgin in the way you suggest. It's been basically unchanged in the last few hundred years. There is no reason to believe anything will replace English at this point. It's everywhere in the globe. Russian nobility might have spoken French, but randoms on the other side of the globe speak English. There is no reason to believe it will change itself as well, instead it's changing every other language, people integrate so many English words, for example English loanwords have made up half of the total of loanwords in French in just a few decades. People learn English as a second language, in mandatory classes at school, as early as 6 years old in most of the world. In some places around the globe English simply replaces native languages without anybody forcing it. Indians in large cities aren't speaking a pidgin like you suggest, they're speaking English, straight up. Try to beat that.
Everybody should speak Finnish
