you're gonna hear your neighbours' heated arguments, some guy "renovating" his apartment using a drill at 8am on a sunday, running kids upstairs, loud music if someone feels like it.

I moved into my apartment 8 years ago.
Was supposed to be temporary but I like it here so never left.
Rent is cheap ($551/month for 43m2).
I live on the top floor so no neighbors above me.
Really thick walls so basically zero sound from around me.
Grocery store across the street.
Great view from my balcony across town.

But you have to get lucky, some are horrible. My friend lives like a kilometer from me in a similar building but it's extremely loud. Even a sneeze is very audible from the neighbors.

I live in a 15kv makeshift apartment in the village I work in (large wood house) hearing neighbors footsteps and a 40kv Brezhnevka in a city where I only hear granny listening to TV on full volume. As long as the neighbors are pensioners or aren't drunkard retards it's not an issue. Hell we had non-jeet students throwing a party and families with toddlers with not much sound issues.
>>
>>225538841
Roll for a good apartment, he should install some sound insulation sounds like no one gives a shit about the unit so why not.
>>
>>225535840

>>225535983
This is a thirdie problem. In real countries, the apartments are of such a high quality that you can't hear your neighbors exist.

Not really except as something desirable. There's even an adjective "lyhörd" which means you can easily hear your neighbors (no English equivalent I think). Guessing in Norwegian too.

God USA needs something like that, not raping your citizens with high rent will make more disposable income which equals more spending. But I’m small scale perhaps I’m missing the forests for the trees
>>
>>225538878
In this country, your neighbors will always be drunkards. Not only they'll be loud at their place they'll try to assault yours, banging on your door and trying to break in.
>>
>>225538995
At det er høglydt ja? Men dette er ei fylgje av dårleg byggestandard. I Noreg er dette noko ei i grunn ikkje treng å ense lenger, då meir eller mindre alle leilegheitsbygg fylgjer moderne standard med god isolering.
>>
>>225539100

Rent is fairly cheap here.
Just looked at what's available in my city and around €500 per month in rent seems to be the average for a 35-45 square meter apartment.

Eg forstår, me ville sagt "lytt" om me ynskjer å vere medt mogleg korrekte.

>>
>>225539499

€1.000 per month in Turin (8m2)
Italy is clownmaxxing between rent and overtourism causing housing price skyrocketing because everyone turns their apartments into b&bs and shit like blackrock & co estate holdings.
Some even rent garages and cellars without windows and the toilet/shower next to the kitchen fire and bed.
Anyone who inherited a house or apartment in the city from a relative or bought another one decades ago can now make shekels out of tourists, students and workers if they live in a big city, lots of questionable places are being renovated for this purpose. Soon people will start renting ancient roman sewage systems, necropoli and whatnot.

our commie blocks from state housing are all reserved for ahmeds and gypsies, shitalian grannies and shitalian families with 4 kids not welcome, and if a shitalian happens to live in onw then the local administration will make sure the lift won't work, the house gets occupied by some illegal or you live surrounded by rats and mold
>>
>>225540119
ours look cozier because old good new bad basically, and I guess the "lore" that comes with that (which is universal across all slav nations, so that's another factor I guess)

personally I like wacky quirky chungus commieblocks the most

the central heating is the major benefit of commie apartments. So it's comfy indeed, but you should have normal neighbors, this is the main problem.

I've legit never heard any of my neighbours or anything from upstairs or downstairs though our communist buildings are different than Soviet/Warsaw Pact ones and I don't actually live in the "best" communist era apartment but rather average.
Drills and other work you can hear of course but that's normal, luckily very rare for me.

soviet apartment buildings come in series (photo being 1-464-A) which could've been built anywhere but naturally capital would get interesting buildings while random shitholes get regular ones
also shithole substates like poland baltics borderlands etc would get more visually appealing apt buildings
>>
i live in a 70s apartment building, not commy style because its pretty big (each floor has three homes, one 70m2, one 100m2 and the other like 130m2 or something) and the homes all have 2 balconies
All my walls are thick, not a single bit of drywall used. Some stuff like the windows do need replacement but the building is in a weird state where some houses are rented, and others are privately owned so the landlords and the owners can't really make any plans to fix anything major
The 70m2 apartment is like 250k-300k to buy, due to new taxes all landlords are selling the apartments now whenever a tendent moves out

The quality of housing in the UK is generally quite poor, but interestingly, our version of gommieblocks built in the postwar period are usually of better quality than actual houses. I live in one and don't really have many complaints other than social alienation (there are 8 flats on my floor and every single person is from a different ethnicity - I'm the only white Brit).

I live in Hammarkullen (picrel) and have lived here my entire life since 1991. When I moved out from my parents apartment at 19 I just moved across the yard kek.
It's alright. Used to be a lot better before immigration and it has turned into one of the areas foreign media called "no-go-zones" even though it's just a bog standard mixed pop area.
I don't mind living here. Got everything I need nearby and the station literally a short walk away.
>>
>>225543549
I do not understand your immigration politics. Instead of those people not your religion, traditions, education level, you could import russians, other slavs, and anyone that similar to you
>>
>>225543627
White people demand to much so the government can't use them for cheap labor. And they don't cause any problems so the government can't use them for political gain in terms of crime etc either.

pretty good but the construction on mine was a bit more posh since it was a building for party officials and foreign dignitaries mostly, so the walls dont let much sound through and the neighbours are all chill.
