Here in Siberia, we don't eat this fish. I never tried it, but my dad says that its a dirty and scavenger fish. Eating this fish is a no-no. He told me that he was at a car shop and talked there to a buryat dude from Osa, and the dude told my dad that he was setting up nets for fishing and went with his friends to catch those catfishes, and they found a dead cow submerged in the water with a horde of catfish devouring it. They catched about a bag of those catfish, but then decided to throw them away. When they returned to that place in the morning, dude said, the cow was already a skeleton. So catfish are considered bad fish here. And apparently they taste bad too.In Siberia we eat clean river fish, like my dad caught some whitefish today, they're delicious. That we call a noble fish because it lives in clean waters, tastes good.
