Are they retarded or something?

Yes
>>
>>225569009
hikaru nakamura can be counted as japanese tho
>>
>>225569009
Hikaru Nakamura is #2. They also have their own special chess called shogi.
>>
>>225569268
he spent almost his entire life in the US. quite sure he does not have the nip nationality either
>>
>>225569472
He's also mixed race. His mom is white.
>>
>>225569009
Chess is third world coded
>>
>>225569607
does he even speak japanese, or would it be like that jap wannabe american tennis player naomi whatever, also a mutt, who plays for japan but gives her interviews in english in japanese media
>>
>>225569675
No, if he did he could pass as Japanese seamlessly. Most don't even know he's half.
>>
ive never played chess
>>
>>225569765
yeah i have to admit it's very hard to tell he's half. jap genes came through strong while naomi is a weird looking mulatto. hikaru's japanese is extremely basic though according to over 9000 ms searching in google
>>
>>225569009
What is chess? Is it a type of sport?
>>
>>225569472
yeah but he is ethnically japanese and he doesnt have the nationality only because japan doesnt allow dual nationality
hes definitely more american overall but he counts as japanese as well at least in my book
>>
>>225569675
>>225569607
Hikaru Nakamura is not Japanese

>make a fake game you only play and claim to be the best at it

What is the ridiculous cuck shit?
>>
>>225570483
It's chess but when you capture a piece you can put it back on the board. It's more complicated, but also it makes the games drawn out they take forever there's no speed version of the game. It confuses the hell out of me because if I watch anime they make chess references (No Game No Life for instance) I've never seen them reference shogi so they clearly know what chess is.

Europe says the same thing about the US and football btw. Every time they have a world cup they bring up the fact that the US has a fake sport that only they play. It's completely sound reasoning btw, I agree with them handegg is gay.

they have the superior game in the chess family (Shogi).

carlsen has been number one for 15+ years when they were still changing that whatever yellow bastard's diapers, and has the highest chess elo in history. currently and usually the only one in the 2800+ club, and gave up his WC titel because he got bored (still #1 btw)
and like anon has said he plays against players from the entire world, not some special snowflake island version of chess they only play in one country.
>they're the absolute best in the that one game only THEY play!!!
no shit weaboo-kun. no one else gives a fuck

really it's just Europe and a handful of indian players.

how many players in the top 2700+ elo worth playing as the very best do you think there
around 30 in the entire world. considering shogi is only played in japan the one you're fanboying for must be playing relatively speaking against retards most of the time. compare this to a norwegian competing against entire continents and staying on top since he turned 18

shogi sucks, really it's just japan and a handful of japanese players. also the top players pretty much just circlejerk and exclusively play each other.

The US and Canada produce the most players and despite this Russia still leads in # of GMs by a very wide margin. The USSR truly was unbeatable, same thing for the Olympics.

I am a Japanese local and my chess.com level is 1300.
I bet I'm the best chess player among this board with stupid gaijins

>>
>>225571537

I guess there are multiple Japanese flag posters here.

My point is that the entire chess player population is merely a local white gaming community. Even if you become the top player there, what's the point?
>>
>>225571724
>local white
What? Most of the world plays. India, Brazil, most of South America, China, SEA, Philippines, Russia. The amount of European players is quite small compared to the rest of the world.
>>
>>225571822
Still, a board game is just a board game.
Once, a Japanese referee made a mistake in a FIFA World Cup match. Posters from poor European countries unleashed their rage on /int/, posting racist nonsense. That was when I realized they have nothing else in their lives besides football.
>>
>>225571991

>ACTUALLY it's not white at all! it's frickin diverse as heck!
Jap bros >do nothing >win
>>
>>225572085
Most of the world isn't white so if you have most of the world play most of the players aren't white. There's still a large portion of white people, but it's statistically impossible for them to be the majority if you include the rest.
>>
>>225571991
Instead of running away into reductionism or nihilism just because you lost an argument, you should apologize.
I don’t have much interest in chess or soccer either, but to say that the world’s biggest board game and sport are “just games” is the same as saying that all forms of entertainment are worthless, which is utter bullshit.

It's a hell of an entertainment. I enjoyed it. Kamsahamnida.
>>
>>225572359
Correction, yoshi - Japan never has had a grandmaster, not a “world champion “. There are 1,904 grandmasters, not one is Japanese. Not one throughout history has been Japanese. What’s stunting you little guys?
>>
>it’s because of shogi!

Chess is a solved game. It is a contest of who can remember the most number of steps in an algorithm. You might as well have no board or pieces. Just have the players rattle off the coordinates.
>>
>>225569632
2nd world coded* (USSR)
>>
>>225573399
Same goes for most board games you could take Go or Shogi too and there's unbeatable bots that play better than the pro-players just like chess.

why do we have to play your retard black and white nigga chess?
our chess is much more complex because captured opponent's chess pieces can be used as your own pieces

>>225571178
>circlejerk and exclusively play each other.
no shit, why would a grandmaster play against timmy who plays like once a month?
>>
>>225571198
Go is roughly10x harder than chess
>>
>>225573587
The pro games for shogi take 3-9 hours. Also flexing about artificial complexity that just pads out the game ruins it for people who have lives.
>>
>>225573789
Go and chess are also completely different games, may as well compare poke and chess.
>>
>>225573875
average chess game:
>gay boring pawn grinding
average shogi game:
>both players launch violent mating attacks that require intense calculation to not lose
>>
>>225574024
It takes 2 hours on average while the pro games go on way longer they have variants of chess where you bring back the pieces they just take forever and no one wants to play it or watch it. If you honestly believe this then watch pro shogi and try not to fall asleep.
>>
>>225574089
>variants of chess where you bring back the pieces they just take forever and no one wants to play it or watch it.
Have you never played crazyhouse? this is just untrue. crazyhouse in particular has much faster games than regular chess.
>If you honestly believe this then watch pro shogi and try not to fall asleep.
again, have you ever actually played shogi?
>>
>>225574153
Yes I tried it once, the games on average even the short ones take 3x longer than chess then when you get to the pro level (which I tried watching) some games are easily 3-4 hours long some going on for 8. It's the most frequent complaint about the game.
>>
>>225574180
>games on average even the short ones take 3x longer than chess then when you get to the pro level
That's just the time control, which has nothing to do with the actual game. nobody is forcing you to watch games live either.
>It's the most frequent complaint about the game.

Also:

- zero world class athletes
- zero world class musicians
- zero world class bands
- zero world class directors in the last 30 years
- zero world class actors
- zero world class non-fiction writers
- zero world class psychologists, philosophers, sociologists

the list goes on. Japan is an interesting country, the way it functions creates strong social cohesion no doubt, but little drive to innovate and create.

Literally anyone complains about this even people who are active in the game.
>>
>>225574245
that's not someone complaining, that's someone asking how pro players manage with long time controls.
>>
>>225574260
There is no world where you play a variant of chess that involves reviving pieces that takes a shorter amount of time than playing chess with captures. They have significantly longer thinking time than chess it's not time controls, the draw rate for shogi is absurdly low, the board is larger, and there's 40 pieces. It takes forever the complexity has nothing to do with it, it's almost exactly the same thing as chess.
>>
>>225574313
>There is no world where you play a variant of chess that involves reviving pieces that takes a shorter amount of time than playing chess with captures.
this is literally crazyhouse. you can be in an endgame on like move 10.
>They have significantly longer thinking time than chess it's not time controls,
it is just time controls (the most popular shogi site only has has short, non-increment time controls, the longest being 10+0).
>It takes forever the complexity has nothing to do with it, it's almost exactly the same thing as chess.

Shogi takes more turns on average and those time controls still involve you sitting there running a clock. So you have a longer amount of time per turn, more moves, and in addition to there being more pieces you have them coming back on the board. That's like saying chess is the duration of turns it takes not the actual time you spend sitting there thinking about your moves.

There are plenty of quicker versions of shogi. The drop rule makes even boards as small as 3x4 non-trivial, also you can play full sized blitz shogi just as easily as chess.
