>>225694559You need a certain critical mass to be able to do certain things, like a space program has a fixed cost and with a population too small you simply won't be able to achieve it no matter how high your gdp/capita is. Like monaco can't have a space program whilst india can simply due to the size difference. Something like 40-100 million seems to be ideal. there's no advantage beyond that, France or Japan can achieve everything India or China can.

So while other European countries would see their population basically double, we only gained half more.
