let's discuss something autisic and international: country codes

Is there any particular reason why certain entities with broad autonomous rights don't get any codes (Like Scotland that prints its own money and that has had international sports teams for decades) while island jokes with no sovereignty do get one?

This topic is boring

Good topic but faggots on this board stopped talking about /int/ernational topics a long time ago. It's just who can bait whom the best now.
>>
>>226014162
Everybody should get their own code. No more countries or regions!

>>226014162
Idk.
>>
>>226014162
My guess would be because islanders are "disconnected" from the mainland.
>>
>>226015049
it's worth a try making a thread, is it not?

It just looks silly to me when uninhabitable islands of the Unites States do have a code (UM), while Kosovo with over a million of residents is stuck using an "user-assigned" XK

If it's similar to internet domains, then theyre ultimately derived from 19th century postal codes, where small and remote territories often had special codes to more efficiently distribute mail (e.g. to send a letter from Spain to Gibraltar, you put in a special code so it doesn't get sent to Britain first)

you should change your flag

that's weird

>If it's similar to internet domains
anon, ccTLDs are derived from country codes
>then theyre ultimately derived from 19th century postal codes
huh, makes sense when you actually consider "distant" territories
Now I wonder how Russian Post handles Kaliningrad kek
