Who the fuck actually does productive labor in your country? In my country all my friends from high school either work some fake e-mail jobs or are software engineers - either way the fruits of their labor are not tangible material consumer goods and yet somehow I eat two slices of bread with ham for breakfast and have running water in my faucet so how do they get there when no one actually does any productive work?

most factories are automated, you need only workers to build and maintain

that's why the elite are trying to lower the population, a lot of people just aren't needed

Majority of filipinos are menial laborers for 15 hours per day. Only the top 1% can get the white collar desk jobs.

i worked as wagecuck on a warehouse for like 1 month where we loaded and unloaded trucks with home appliances and organized the stuff there
forklift niggas were carrying and sometimes loading big appliances like fridges or washing machines but usually we loaded with hand cart to make sure it was fit tightly
when it was like a special order on a smaller truck where they asked for 1 or 2 of different models/barnds we moved and loaded it ourselves with hand cart
it was a real pain in the ass when we were supposed to tight fit a bunch of 10 to 20 kilo boxes that were shaped unconveniently into a truck and vice versa
it took hours to do that
inside of the truck is like 2 and a half meters or 3 meters tall so you had to pick up stuff from very high and arrange them carefully on a wodden pallet that was carried by forklift niggas(and also the other way around when loading a truck) on repeat it was kinda hard for me because im built like a stickman
gravity doesnt help when you are supposed to put the stuff down slowly in an awkward angle
i actually found it easier to lift stuff up because you can keep your momentum for the whole movement with support from your legs
i can say that forklifts do most of the work for warehouses though

Prison slave labor and desperate immigrants make up almost all of it here

Immigrants usually are treated as slave labor with ICE as a cudgel for business owners to use whenever they wish

I would genuinely kill for a bullshit job that pays well, I'm talking zero stress and 6 figures salary

I literally work for writing and categorizing medical data and papers. I think my work is useless and I don’t see the fruits of my labor and the only way I cope being happy is when I see my bank balance go up that’s it.

%95 of jobs are useless and madeup because there is just too many people who need to be kept employed

Bullshit jobs are very stressful and consist mainly in a series of humiliation rituals ordered by anyone who has authority over you, sometimes at the request of your coworker that your manager likes more. It's grim.

most things can be done in a way that reduces labour. so can many jobs in an office, but aren't to the same degree. the thing is computers can be programmed to do things, so there's really no limit to automating such work. and it can be done inexpensively too if anyone has an interest in doing so (not pouring money into way overpriced software and support).

there is some straight up hard labour that cannot be mechanised or structurally reorganised out of existence because it's not financially viable or physically practical in specific cases.

for a lot of things it's also a matter of scale. doesn't make sense to get a machine when you already have an employee who can just use some muscle and work harder to make up the difference. but you can easily stick with that past the point of efficiency.

All my friends have fake jobs like marketing, finance, management or frontdev. I'm the only one with a real job. Some of them are struggling, some of them are doing fine. I'm doing great. Only downside is it's tiring while they're not tired from work. But long run they'll be fucked.

200 years ago, 60% of people were farmers. Now it's 3-5%. Automation is going to oneshot white collar jobs. Specific factory jobs will never die. A guy who can fix the machine that's powerful enough to produce as much as 1 million humans would will never be replaced. Robots able to replace him don't exist and when they'll be out they'll cost too much. Whereas an AI to send emails or build softwares isn't expensive and already exists. You're all fucked. You'll be on the streets soon enough. A lot of you will die.

A brutal aspect of bullshit jobs for the guys doing them beyond the fact that they bring nothing or are a result of a downright harmful way of making the economy run is that you don't develop anything from it. A fisherman learns things that serve him outside his job, so does a farmer, any tradie obviously, even a cop or a fireman really. You don't learn shit from having 4 meetings about inclusivity a day and sending e-mails proofed by chatgpt. You're mentally rotting away. That's why 99% of the time these people are manchildren. You can just see them from interacting with them. Clueless and helpless.

I run a small IT and computer support business. I do all my work at the customer site, so I get to travel around the area, meet new people. Also get to directly see the fruits of my labor. Whether it's building a new computer for someone or resolving their technical support crisis, I can see the productivity I had. Also feels good to go into a situation where a person or small business is in a tech crisis and be able to provide a solution and take their anxiety and stress away.
I started my own business though because of the exact thing in OP's post. I worked in IT for various companies and even a public school district, but most of it was just giving the appearance of doing something instead of actually doing anything.

Well go figure it out. Follow the bread. Someone sold it to you. Someone put it on the shelf at the sell-bread-to-consumers factory. Someone drove the truck that brought it there. Someone hammered that bread together at the bread assembly factory. Someone brought the bread components to the bread factory. And somewhere out there you have a big open-air bread component factory where someone drives a tractor for fun.
It's those people. They do the productive work.
