I have two Russian friends. One is a drone engineer and one is a recent college graduate. They both left Russia because they don't want to get cubed. A lot of Russians are dying in the war but I think it's likely that for every dead Russian there are 5 Russians who fled Russia to not die. I mean it is logical. Would you stay knowing there is a 50/50 chance you will be sent to die?
Reminder, Russia gets around 600k immigrants a year (mostly from central Asia and Africa) so when you take that into account the demographics look even worse. We talk about Japan, Korea and China's population decline but per capita Russia is declining around 4 times faster.

You're forgetting that there's no full-on mobilization in Russia. There is widespread coercion into signing contracts but this affects specific regions and specific social groups, most Russians will never encounter this.

On top of that, it's unclear how the "new territories" (most of which aren't even under Russian control) are accounted for. Also, the most recent census in 2021 was a complete clusterfuck and cannot be trusted. There are estimates but these are only accurate up to a million or two.
