how did your parents raise you in your country? did they yell at you a lot or beat you? how were they as people?

Fine, mom was a destructive narcissist so she destroyed my childhood. Don't talk to her anymore.

Mom and dad were to busy fighting everyday because of dad's alcoholism to have time for me. They spent all their parenting years on my older siblings, I was last so kinda just ignored.
I skipped school, got no grades, quit school in 9th grade and they never even cared.

good people mediocre parents

Dad was a total shitbag to mom and basically demanded 24/7 adoration and care, mom had to basically care for the family as basically a single mom while dad basically eschewed all and every chance of educational opportunity (never graduated middle school), more work hours, better jobs, or caring for his kids while asking to be praised for the absolute bare minimum. This was all back in 90s so he basically fumbled literally everything while dragging us into debt while having my uncle have to slap sense into him. This fumbling also meant he fucked the late 90s to pre 2008 crisis.

how do you support yourself now?

A lot of well meaning but poor decisions. They were very bad with money at a time when their peers were raking it in with little effort. They had the chance to be boomer ladder pullers but they didn't even climb the ladder in the first place. My dad owned two houses and sold them both in a housing market slump only months before two different massive housing market booms. He's filed for bankruptcy three times.

Single mom (dad died) so I was pretty much raised in moms flower & home decoration store. I got off school at 15:00 so I would head straight there and help her until we closed at 20:00. Then dinner, tv, video games/movie and bed. Repeat.
Pretty much the same now, except she sold the shop when she turned 60 and retired.
Yes, I still live with my mom. Don't care.

Abject neglect, narcissistic abuse. I don't even know my dad even though he was in the house until adulthood because he wouldn't speak to his own children. Mother is a massive cunt who's sabotaged me in every way, stunted my development, gotten me fired from jobs, tried to get me a criminal record, and implanted so much bile in my head since I was a kid I've ended up a self-sabotaging neurotic mess. Unfortunately still trapped bc this country is too expensive until grad next year. Going NC with both.
