Did you know, that we don't know what year Jesus was born in?You might say, "of course we know that, Jesus was born in the year 1 AD. The Gregorian calendar is based on the year of his birth"But we don't know what year that is. The Bible gives two contradictory birth years for Jesus. Matthew 2:1 puts his birth "in the days of Herod the King". Herod is known to have died in 4 BC.Luke 2:1-2 aligns his birth with a census ordered by Caesar Augustus: "This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria." This census took place in 6 AD.Not only is this further proof that the writers of the gospels contradicted themselves about Jesus, his birth year, his genealogy, and the events leading up to his crucifixion, but the two years given differ by 10 years. The current year might be 2016, or 2036, or any of the years in between. In my opinion, the Gregorian calendar should be abandoned all together in favour of the more accurate Roman calendar, in which the current year is 2779 AUC.
