Why are American Christianity so... amiss? And was it always like that?
>>
>>226037274
Puritans in New England + illiterate masses who were easily swayed by charismatic preachers during the "Great Awakening" throughout the South+frontier states + Protestantism's "faith alone" mixed with American individualism = Christianity is whatever I define it to be.
>>
>>226037274
Capitalism degraded it and then the CIA/FBI saw it as a good tool to perform psyops with.
In restrospect, America should've been Catholic or had some state church that could center things so Paster Rob in his basement in Arkansas couldn't pump out 20 heresies per minute with bad readings of the Bible.
>>
>>226037416
The truth is Christianity falls apart the moment you let normal people read the Bible. The advent of the printing press was the long-term death knell of the religion.
>>
>>226037559
It shouldn't. Do charitable deeds and be a good person shouldn't be hard to understand even if your translation is kinda shitty. So either the Bible sucks or it's uniquely corruptible by evil and/or retarded people.
>>
>>226037617
The problem with the Bible is that it's way too open to diverging interpretations because the New Testament itself highlights an intra-semitic feud and Paul (who never even met Jesus) proceeds to add on top of that narratives which undermine Christ's teachings.
>>
>>226037617
It does. We can compare it to modern day with the availability of AI servies like chatgpt and grok, where dumb peasants will ask it for medical and juridical advice instead of the "corrupt experts" (doctors, lawyers, back then the priests) and no surprise, they lose their court case or overdose on pills
>>
>>226037274
I've heard that the United States went through a strange Christian revival in the 20th century and that's why they are such mental fanatics and Jew worshippers. I assume they were more normal Protestants in the past (as normal a Protestant can be). But I might be wrong

America has a thing called a "Great Awakening" every century or so when people get a Puritan gene uptick and go crazy for religion.
The last big one was in the late 20th century with the Satanic Panic and rise of Evangelical Zionist Christianity during the Reagan era. Modern American conservatism is aftershocks of this.
>>
>>226037559
>The truth is Christianity falls apart the moment you let normal people read the Bible.

>The Old Testament is responsible for more atheism, agnosticism, disbelief – call it what you will – than any book ever written; it has emptied more churches than all the counter-attractions of cinema, motor bicycle and golf course.[73] -aa milne

I cannot believe people read the old testament and walk away thinking all that shit is 100% true.
>>
How do jews make everyone insane without even doing anything, its kind of ridiculous at this point

Everything about them is amiss, not only their brands of Christianity.
They're a fisher price toy people, completely fake and immature
I hope they can grow out of it in time

Unfortunately true in my experience. I thought reading the Bible cover-to-cover would make me a better Christian (obviously??), but it's actually made me more doubtful than reading any secular/pagan textbook. And I'm not sure how to reconcile with that.

The reason is Protestantism is decentralized and, when it comes to theological basics, valueless.
I am not saying no Protestant denominations have basic Christian values, I am saying that Protestantism as a concept has no ability to maintain them. Look at Mormonism, they believe God is an alien and fucked hard enough that billions of human souls were created. How did Joseph Smith find this out? He read some Egyptian hieroglyphs o algo. It's obviously heresy and not Christianity, but what tools does 'Protestantism' have to counter this? None. Each denomination does whatever it wants, believes whatever it wants.
>>
>>226042143
>It's obviously heresy and not Christianity, but what tools does 'Protestantism' have to counter this?
Order 44
>>
>>226042427
Government level prohibition, not within Protestantism itself.
And the problem isn't just the Mormons. There's Seventh Day Adventists, Calvinism, Southern Baptists, East Asian Christian, New Age, Progressive, and the list goes on and on.
Catholicism, whatever you think of it, spends time putting a stop to heresies. Protestant just stares angrily at heretics and hope they eventually go away, because Protestantism as a whole is "everyone else but me is a heretic because... uh... I don't know, I guess everyone was wrong until now."

the entirety of the US is built on 4 kinds of people

>black ex slaves
>latino border hoppers
>italian and irish poor immigrants
>inbred whites who were kicked out of Europe for following schizo cults and took over the US instead

case in point for the amish. they are descendants of inbred swiss religious cults that fled to the US lel

huh, so THAT'S why they talk German so funny

Could I hit them up with my northroid standard German or do they only speak swiss?

I think it's an old dialect. One of those flash frozen dialects.
Also they don't speak Swiss, it's dutch.

>>
>>226037274
nobody here is mentioning how the UK invented christian jew worship.
look into the history of dispensationalism.
it was exported to the USA, and then the USA ran with it and mass-produced it, like all ideas.

also euroids have no room to talk. catholics and atheists are jew-lovers too. it was all over when hitler lost and racism was turned into original sin.
>>
>>226043542
it's not Dutch, it's Low German
>>
>>226041966
>I'm not sure how to reconcile with that
Should be pretty fucking obvious, reject this degenerate middle eastern dogma, learn about philosophy and religion more generally, and come to your own conclusions.
>>
>>226037274
Anglo dispensationalism goes back to Darby's study Bible in the 1800s, and israel is carefully supported by myths, like that God promised "the jews" that land. It's probably a psyop similar to how the CIA caused Brazil to go from 80% catholic to now majority evangelical o algo
>>
>>226037359
Incorrect. New England Puritans were based, similar to Amish minus the luddite thing.
>>226037416
>America should've been Catholic or had some state church that could center things so Paster Rob in his basement in Arkansas couldn't pump out 20 heresies per minute with bad readings of the Bible.
SENIORRRRRRRRRRRR
How low IQ do you have to be to not realise papal inerrance debunks all of catholicism
>>
>>226041966
Biblical inerrance is not required for faith. "The bible" is a compilation of books by many authors, not a single unified narrative. Ecclesiastes basically says "who knows if there's an afterlife, life is unfair and meaningless, there's nothing better than eating and drinking"
But obviously the correct interpretation is that it's all BS
>>
>>226042143
>It's obviously heresy and not Christianity, but what tools does 'Protestantism' have to counter this? None
Textual literalism. Anyone who tries to add or subtract from the written word is punished. That being said, it's an open question how much "heresy" is allowed for Christians. The only condition is supposed to be accepting Jesus as the saviour. I don't see a reason that someone who does that would be sent to hell for believing that guy read golden tablets, or that the poope is infallible lol. Keep in mind the poope says Muslims and jews can go to heaven.
>>
>>226044898
>Anyone who tries to add or subtract from the written word is punished
Protestants removed books from the bible. They subtracted from the written word...
>>
>>226044788
God's promise of Israel to the Jews is invalidated multiple times in the Bible. It's a constant cycle of
>Jews are in a terrible condition
>God offers them paradise, if they follow His laws
>Jews agree and follow laws
>they reach paradise
>stop following laws
>Paradise is then conquered and Jews are enslaved
>Jews are in a terrible condition...
It's why the condition of the Jewish people in both Moses's time and Jesus's time are parallels to each other. Jesus is a continuation of the Jewish story down to the letter, the only difference is Jesus is not here to fulfill an old covenant but rather make a whole new one.
>>226044898
>Textual literalism
Interpreted by who? This is the fundamental problem.
Because "textual literalism" to a Calvanist means "only we the elect will be saved, everyone else is predetermined to be damned, we're so great", while "textual literalism" to an Anglican is entirely different.
"Textual literalism" is just another way of saying "everyone else but me and my special interpretation is wrong".
>>
>>226042704
>>italian and irish poor immigrants
>>inbred whites who were kicked out of Europe for following schizo cults and took over the US instead
Not poor anymore chud. Also new England wasn't "inbred", yes they were schizo which was the reason they had a 95% literacy rate in the 1700s, to read the Bible. Anyway cope harder with the fact US whites score higher than almost any euro cuntry on PISA. Also with the fact we've been #1 in GDP/c since 1880
>>
>>226037274
Demonic corruption.
>>
>>226044898
>I don't see a reason that someone who does that would be sent to hell for believing that guy read golden tablets, or that the poope is infallible lol
The difference is that the Pope is only infallible when he speaks 'ex cathedra' and the number of times that's happened can be counted on one hand.
Also there's a huge difference between "I found extra scripture in my backyard" and "I am [high religious figure] and here is my expert theological opinion approved by God". From a Protestant perspective, 'ex cathedra' happens all the time, Protestants just give themselves the power to do it rather than it belonging solely to the Pope.
>>
>>226044918
>Jesus is not here to fulfill an old covenant but rather make a whole new one
That's not consistent with Matthew. Nor any of the other gospels which go to great lengths to show he is the messiah and fulfillment of prophecy. Are you a catholic? Why are you reifying dispensationalism.
>Interpreted by who?
By the individual.
>"everyone else but me and my special interpretation is wrong".
What's wrong with that? That's practically a tautology. Do you cede all of your opinions to the poope? Obviously not, or you would think Mormons and jews and Muslims can go to heaven while rejecting the messiah.

>Protestants removed books from the bible. They subtracted from the written word...
Obviously, according to them, your canon adds to it. Luther didn't consider Revvelation canonical (which would prevent 80% of schizophrenia historically). Almost nobody takes the gnostic literature seriously. The tools of textual criticism developed by Christianity have ultimately debunked it completely, far beyond 2 Timothy. Which is why the American family guy brand of atheism is a subset of protestantism.
>>226045007
>The difference is that the Pope is only infallible when he speaks 'ex cathedra' and the number of times that's happened can be counted on one hand.
That sounds completely wrong. He, and the "church" collectively, are supposed to be protected from making any theological errors, much less something as glaring as denying the necessity of Jesus for salvation.
>>
>>226045098
>Obviously, according to them, your canon adds to it.
No. People had already decided this. 2+2=4, you cannot 500 years later decide "um actually it's 2+2=5". They removed books.
>>
>>226040107
>The last big one was in the late 20th century with the Satanic Panic and rise of Evangelical Zionist Christianity during the Reagan era.
As a result of TV, radio, and the CIA. You're misdiagnosing the reason for christian zionism, it has nothing to do with "muh puritans" or "muh republicans". More to do with the breakfast cereal guy who popularised circumcision. Also the satanic panic was real (just not in specific cases like the west memphis 3--the 44 magnum killer admission proves this), probably an offshoot of Chaos (see "The Finders"--I also suspect 764 is in the same vein).
>Modern American conservatism is aftershocks of this.
>thinking a political party has anything to do with ideas rather than donors
>>
>>226037274
Its more of a general problem in wider christianity , European catholics and Protestants tend to have the same issues these days then there's the Orthodox who usually just have some state corruption going on
>>
>>226045154
>No. People had already decided this. 2+2=4, you cannot 500 years later decide "um actually it's 2+2=5". They removed books
Which people? You're just begging the question, the canon was heavily debated in the 4th century and as recently as Luther. Do you also agree with Tertullian that the resurrection will be entirely bodily? Poopism is indefensible on its face because of its contradictions and as of recently denial of basic theology. It's far more realistic to admit people can make errors, such as when compiling the canon.
>>
>>226045154
Also how do you cope with the fact the long ending of Mark and the parable of the adultress are interpolations added in the 4th century
