windows 10. it's better than windows 7 in some ways but I hate how connected to the internet it is. it feels like microsoft is always looking over my shoulder. always trying to interfere with what I'm doing. always trying to sell me shit. always trying to coax me into being the person it wants me to be. I miss the ownership of 90s/early 00s computing.

i'm using Bazzite as well, but my GPU is AMD
all games i tried run perfectly, even skyrim with a lot of mods run perfectly using amethyst mod manager.
i tried cachyos and pop!os before and had some issues.
i feel he retardproofing thing comes from Fedora, since i'm far from being a linux expert, to me probably it isn't a bad thing.
I had to replace my motherboard and fucking windows put a watermark demanding a new license. I'm glad i found this OS.

>>226045362
Yea ive only had a few weird bugs, pretty much all with proton shaders fucking up.
The retard proofing is mostly with how badly the OS wants you to use flatpak and discourages manual installs like on other distros, not a real problem most of the time for someone like me who's just playing games

I also keep a designated shittint winbox at the office with a vnc server on it for the occasional thing that requires windows because of some external contact wanting to use an arcane windows properietary feature, file format or bloatware app. but I use it maybe a couple of times per year.

Been using CachyOS uniquely for about two weeks after upgrading my PC big time. After a short but very rough beginning (had to reinstall the OS three times after stupidly bricking it) I'm finally getting the hang of it and learning some subtleties. Gaming on it feels insanely good, but also it's just the upgrade doing that mostly but there's nothing I was doing on Windows10 that I can't do better with CachyOS. The downsides are nothing compared to the positives. Takes some unretardationing, but the shit you can do seems near endless.
Loving mostly that it feels like it's the OS for me. For other anons it's some other OS.

>>226045362
its what i installed on my relatives computers when they ask mostly because bazzite/universal blue seems the most unbreakable/retardproof system right now. the downside to me is it feels a lot slower to boot, update, install packaged which is why i like the regular fedora more. however they really should have btrfs snapshots built in to the stock configuration by now, opensuse, cachyos, arch have been doing it for years. having the ability to just revert literally everything to the last byte on your computer to the way it was yesterday is amazing

>>
>>226051360
it largely doesnt matter that much these days. but imo get bazzite if you want a 'set it and forget it' unbreakable auto-updating foolproof os like for a home-theatere pc or a handheld.
cachyos is the go-to for a general-purpose pc that also does gaming well. cachy is faster to boot, is more configurable but you can break it if you're not careful
>>
>>226056941
I want it to do NOTHING unless I specifically tell it to. That's the biggest reason why I want to switch.
>>
>>226056903
you can get a windows 11 pro license on a key website for 6 shekels (1.5 eurocoins)
but i wouldnt use it if they paid me to that OS is so trash compared to the competition

>>226056979
thats every distro basically. none of them do anything unless you tell em to
bazzite is a bit different since its designed to be maintenance-free like some people use it as an OS that boots straight into steam and stays there so they dont want to worry about the sorrounding system so it has auto-updates by default but if you want to turn that off its 1 command

if its your main PC that you do shit other than gaming on i recommend cachyos. it has many variants/options but the default for everything is basically the best.

Manjaro on the PC, with which I am very happy with.
>>226052546
I found Bazzite to be a pain in the ass for non-steam gaming compared to Manjaro (mostly because of outdated dependancies which there is no easy way to update). That and I don't appreciate the gimped terminal. I get the idea that you don't have to touch it when using Bazzite, but come on, I feel like the windows command prompt has more flexibility in it.

It's the baseline, I'd love it if Microsoft didn't enshitiffy it with ads and bloatware every update. Everything just werks, no complaints
>Travel gaming laptop / glorified TV modem: loonix (bazzite)
Similar to windows except sometimes things will just randomly not work. Also it randomly shits itself it you don't restart it for a few days. Overall fine
>Work computer: macos
It's fine if you legitimately only need a web browser and maybe the ms office suite, kinda retarded for anything beyond thst. All the common key bindings are different for no good reason. The entire OS feels like it has autism with how much it locks you down and how it feels like everything has to be different from windows for no good reason. Also for some reason it's common that random shitty programs like a key layout replacer or a screen annotation tool will cost you money, I guess apple consumers are goyslaves and actually buy it.
Only upside to this shitshow is that it works just fine when leaving it on for a week or more
