Thats because there is a significant difference between the Norwegian military and US. In norway you have conscription, but only for a small part of population, wich means you can afford to select the best of the population. Most people who join the US military as grunts are instead poor with relativly shit education. That said, I still like working with US units, they are fun to hang out with and usually well trained.

You ever think the US will eventually going to go through a Starship Trooper phase?

That's never going to happen as long as the Democratic Party exists.

I am aware, but we also have a very good community there, you are able to study on the side and it's a healthy environment. I remember taking part of the military exercise Cold Response and it was almost embarrasing seeing the Navy Seals being so much shorter and not used to the cold temperatures. They are good guys though, high morale, and nice to work with.

Cold Response was fun, I was there in 2017(?).
But winter conditions is difficult, you need to train a lot to be good at it, wich isnt a problem for us who lives here, we have no choice. But its understandable that US units who has spent the past 25 years fighting in a desert hasnt put much focus on it.

I have this small waterfall down the road and use to sit in in the pool of water for maybe 5-10 minutes. It's the first minute that gets you, Then i would sit in the sauna for 30 minutes. Made me fresh and released endorfines for five hours after. Now i have developed a resistance to cold, the only negative aspect is that i suffer in warm climates.

Why doesn't the US have a foreign legion? It'd be a good way to get illegals to become fodder.

Same experience, I grew up in the north too.

It wouldnt be worth it economically. Equipping units (and then loosing said equipment) in pointless meat waves is a pisspoor tactic. Third world nations like Russia sort of gets away with it by simply not equipping their meatwave troops.

In modern warfare, training regular soldiers and paying condolence money to families of soldiers with legal citizenship costs more than purchasing equipment.
