Air raid nodes are the ones along the route where there's only planes, no shooting enemy ships, and you have to survive without taking damage (which is what ring is good for). Completely different situation from boss killing.Also, formation doesn't change the air superiority calculations, which happen amongst fighter planes before the ships get to shoot planes down, so ring won't help with getting AS/AS+. Therefore getting AS/AS+ with fighter planes and having the ships do an all out attack in line ahead is the usual tactic for bosses.

Well, I got lucky in the final runs and never her again, only the easiers comps and cleared the map. Going line ahead on the boss definitely helped I think, though the node before Shoukaku got wrecked on two occasions by the bombers in line ahead, whereas we only had scratch damage in diamond.On to the next challenge with my underleveled fleet...
