Vid gen is better done in Comfy, too.

Extensions are 90% cross-compatible, so it's a good bet any fundamentals from Re will still work or have been updated for Classic/Neo.

Yeah, how badly it fucks the image in general varies a lot. Sometimes I can do multiple passes without deterioration that's visible to the naked eye (or at least to my poor eyesight) and other times like in that image it ends up like that in one go. Correct. If by raw you mean straight out of T2I then yes, not even an upscale pass. I'm still getting a feel for the model. At least with SDXL-based models it was enough to play around with artists, here I need to try out different sampler/scheduler combinations for each artist and resolution. It's very hit or miss, mostly miss.

It's an I2I on the whole image, with the output matching the resolution of the main input image. The output often does get slightly shifted or zoomed either in or out but that's something the model just does on its own. It could be a result of using the lighter nunchaku version of Qwen-Image-Edit, trying to run the original model gave me an ETA of hour and a half for one image whereas nunchaku does it in half a minute.

It looked more white to me than purple, I'm actually tempted to go properly learn art just to know the exact terms for stuff like this because I want to say it looks desaturated (like her skin and her hair look like they could be the same colour) but there's the red in there which makes things pop like Mokou's cherry in a couple of minutes there's definitely a term for the technique at play here

So I know animation outside specialised animation AIs is quite tough to do from scratch for a myriad of reasons, however I was thinking about GIFs more specifically short looping GIFs that don't have that many frames. Since animation is nothing more than a series of still pictures, how do you feel if a request involved asking to directly edit / use an existing gif as reference

Also pure theory / guesswork here but I bet the best results would be something without a background + very few frames + each frame not having any "still" unmoving parts in it (so that there's less consistency issues to worry about and the end result looks smoother)

Yeah, I've genned the occasional 2hu before but only recently became aware of this thread. Given that /edg// has gone to shit due to spamming and /adt/ has never not been a joke I'm taking refuge here, mostly fulfilling requests to avoid being too disruptive.
As for the style, I usually try something new with each gen. I could whip out something straight up better looking using Noob or another late SDXL-based model but I'm still in the process of learning Anima's quirks and handling. While you won't get such nice visuals out of it as easily the prompt comprehension and capacity for details are in another class entirely.
You can see the artist and other generation details of a catboxed image easily if you have the catbox script that's linked in pretty much every other local-focused imagen thread.

Spent a couple of hours screwing with the backend instead, so here's some bullet points you may have missed. Forge-classic has been put on the back burner and won't be receiving any more non-critical updates. Neo is the "main" thing here on out, and recently got a Python/pyTorch upgrade which features a native attention mode with equal or slightly better performance than Sage/Flash. Nothing substantial - a 5%-ish gen time decrease over Sage on my setup - although, supposedly, "more stable." The updated gradio interface is still a little much if all you care about is SDXL, but at the very least the UI preset widget doesn't completely reset/ignore your defaults anymore. Had to look up updated forks for some of my go-to extensions; most were easily acquired, however, now that -neo has been around a while.
All in all, it's not as painful as it used to be. If you want to get Anima-ready or pop out the occasional WAN clip without getting comfy with Comfy, might do well to migrate. Otherwise, still few advantages over -classic at this point. Afternoon well spent.

I decided to go to some Japanese uploads of the th20 ost to see what the Japs thought of the songs in the comments and aside from getting my feelings validated seeing everyone say Nina's extra stage theme sounds like it's an intentional " return to classic Touhou" in tone and PC-98 esque, but more specifically I saw people saying that they could hear the notes of one of Rika's themes and I kinda see what they mean specifically with "Tank Girl's Dream" which would be awesome if true connecting the twentieth extra stage boss with the first

Well I think putting writing a whole novel *before* a Touhou VN is a bit foolhardy, the VN would be better practice for the novel. I still don't got a lot of good writing advice but I still assert reading Imperfect Metamorphosis (yes really) and looking at the author's notes helped me mentally unlock the concept of writing, though I was pretty young at the time so maybe that was just a maturity thing.

Went and played around with Gemma-4 myself, threw some fanart/manga at it. The OCR (vision model) is at times very impressive, even reading super-stylised sfx, but then the LLM handling the transcription/translation... is still an LLM. With all that goes. Scan didn't come through clean? No worries, just make some shit up. Sentences incomplete because the OCR returned the lines separated? No worries, just make some shit up to fill in the perceived gaps. And sometimes it just straight makes shit up instead of translating because, well, it's a fuckin' LLM. Not ruling out I've gaps in my know-how, as the last thing I messed with was NeMo, but this really feels like the tech remains fundamentally flawed.
Imagine plugging it into to a screen space recorder rather than static image files would be an extra pain on top. Can't text hook the thing?

I've done some playing around with the new anima (not used for this picture though). Noticably better than it was before, though style-wise it's still severely lacking. It should be extremely useful for more specific/complex gens, particularly as a baseline instead of having to hand-draw things. The lightning lora is decent but lacking a lot of the benefits of the newest version of Anima.
One fun prompt element that I found works well:

My standard WAI/Chosen t2i gens take 30 seconds, on Anima with the same resolution it takes about 90 seconds. Using the lightning lora brings it down to 20 seconds. If I'm just using it for composition pre-regional i2i'ing it with WAI/Chosen, 20 seconds is well worth it compared to having to make it manually from scratch or from other gens.

I think just looking at AIBooru in general it looks like AI's not too great for paizuri stuff unless you tard wrangle. Think Paizuri is something that generally is harder to make look attractive to people not already into the idea to begin with like I'm not an ass guy but there's artists out there that'll draw an ass so good it'll give me a boner y'know? There needs to be a certain amount of weight and softness, pretty good skill checkpoit for artists to aim for

That's sort of a modern issue people have noticed is a fear of sincerity, thanks to cringe culture. Something which 4chan has some blame in. It's something I struggle with to this day when trying to express myself. These threads have helped a little though

Also while looking through some old threads for nostalgia's sake I noticed well first off looks like a couple of the image uploads got 404'd though fortunately it's usually uploads by people who have all their work uploaded elsewhere in some kind of repository
Second off, I also stumbled on an old discussion we had about like kink stuff and where your personal lines are which made me think back to the guy complaining about us being vanilla. It's been long enough since that conversation I'm more willing to experiment with the uncomfy ideas now that I was pretty quick to dismiss entirely back then (like one of my complaints was genuinely "if you want slave / servant kinks why not put them in a maid outfit instead of shackles, it's much cuter" like way to miss the entire appeal 2025 me) not sure if its loneliness or these threads that are corrupting me more

No, it downgrades the model to be on par with ponyxl when I try to have it use my style, though it's it's understandable that its understanding of style is limited as it's clearly got a lot of gelbooru in it.

0.6-0.7, no higher than 0.8 or the image disintegrates, and that's when I'm using regional i2i which is a bit less likely to do so. I have to do a few iterations too, particularly if the image already has lots of shading or lineart.

Use the suggested settings (I found 25 steps, 5.5 cfg, er_sde works nicely). They don't mention it, but the scheduler should be simple. I'd hope that other frontends can use it without issue, but if all else fails you can drag the trainer's images into comfyui.
My prompt for picrel was:
"masterpiece, best quality, score_7, Komeiji Satori and Komeiji Koishi from Touhou showering together nude. Satori is standing from side in the background, with medium breasts, washing her own hair. Satori has closed eyes. Koishi is standing straight-on in the foreground, with large breasts press against glass, looking at the viewer with a seductive smile and waving."
The key parts of this are:
-Use non-natural language for style, natural language for everything else
-Have 2-5 natural language sentences
-Don't make the sentences too long
-The first sentence should describe the image in general. The other sentences should describe specific elements more specifically. Keep the sentences concise, use gelbooru tags in them and avoid conjugating or altering the tags.
-Breast sizes are even more inconsistent than in WAI/Chosen

Funnily enough I would've probably been able to gen that. that Shanghai Doll gen with LITERALLY DOUBLE THE SUBJECT COUNT has taught me a thing or two about handling those types of gens. Heck, the different clothes and hair color might actually make it easier.

I wish Forge had some simple syntax for commenting out parts of the prompt. Would be nice for testing out the effects of particular parts of a prompt and when doing I2I to leave out the parts irrelevant to what's currently being processed and reintroduce them when you move to parts where they are relevant. Also to just have the whole prompt present in the metadata for the final I2I even if some of it is commented out.

Relevant to what I'm talking about. I've done denoises close to 1 and had them work out fine - you just need to make sure your prompt matches what's in the area considered, including the padding.

You can select the part you want excluded and CTRL+down arrow it to 0.0.
That said, sometimes cutting it out will take you below the next token threshold and speed up the generation by a bit, so yeah.

Huh, back when I tested it with Noob a tag at 0.0 weight was clearly different from the tag not being there at all, but I guess it's different again with Anima? Go figure. At any rate doing a lot of button mashing isn't exactly convenient. Ideally all I'd have to do is just highlight the text and press a hotkey or UI button to instantly comment or uncomment that part, and parts commented out would be greyed out too to make them easy to distinguish.

I'll try asking Gemma if it would slop me up an extension for it.
