It's embarrassing that Japanese companies are having such a hard time making actually popular games recently. Uma Musume is the exception, and even then that needed viral anime to help it blow up. They need to get rid of the aging executives already.
They are making plenty of popular console games.

>>50978009Several devs and publisher already tackled this subject, the issue is that labor in china is super cheap, and japan has tons of laws to avoid black companies and sweat shops propping up. Imagine that the amount of content FFXIV releases in 12 months takes 6 weeks for chinese mobages to develop, theres no way for japan to compete. The only way would be to compete against cheap korean games like trickcal, no way they can go against stuff like wuthering waves.
