I've yet to commit to Summer time, mostly because the season just reminds of how much I wish it was Winter instead. That and the few bikini pics that end up striking me are of characters locked up in hell so I end up going for a red-ish theme to go along with the Animal Realm although logically it makes even less sense than to throw Keiki on a beach and call it a day.
Like many others who do get to her to eventually I succumbed to tanned Mayumi. Well, I actually didn't make this the target until a few weeks ago, but it could've been done within an evening after getting the subject gens done. just been feeling oddly demotivated despite having a want to do things lately.

Anyways, was a bit of a pain trying to wrangle out the "2000s artstyle" from the model. Don't think it even fully captured it. Dunno if it's a result from using img2img to springboard the pose off of or a quirk with SwarmUI/ComfyUI weights and tags.

I do know it's possible though, had a pretty solid style capture when I was on my bullshit of genning the same 4 momijis trying to mix artist and style tags back on Forge/reForge.

Managed to find and compile all the old 2000s style images I could find on my Stepmania (Dance Dance Revolution clone) install that had some very old touhou packs that I used as inspiration and reference. In my experience, it's one of those elements what're too small and concept-vague not to get garbled in any kind of i2i but for an exclusive inpaint at a full-ish resolution and low denoise. What you've got there is halfway there; up to me, I'd have slimmed the bands down and put them a tad closer to the fingertip. From there it's a matter of outlining a triangle around the fingernail, filling in with red in between, maybe adding a smudge of black on a soft light layer (or darker red) on one side to give it a hint of concave. Mask the hand, clear the positives except the hand-related ones, masked only at 1280x1280 and 0.2-0.25 or abouts, and Benben's your biwatch.
... Yeah, you're pretty well drawing them yourself at this point, but that's the way this finger rings.

Ah well I wasn't talking about Touhou characters given that they're pretty ungoth-like generally speaking. Much like an earlier conversation about Gyaru, there's a billion outfit subgenres of Goth and there's a lot I don't like generally speaking the ones that go too overboard with it. Not that much better as the Yuukstein poster has exposed, I forgot to trim the edges a bit so there's too much fuzzy pixels
Sounds to me like you ought to experiment more with GIMP cause I'm not even good at it
My workflow is as such
-Use the bucket tool; Set mode to erase
-Set threshold level to something appropriate (35 - 40 is pretty good, if the character has natural contrast with the background you can set it higher)
-click and it'll magically erase the pesky background elements
-sometimes parts of the character is too similar to the background in brightness so I'll use the erase tool, set it to 2 pixels and then use the click -> hold shift -> click technique to sort of cut around the problematic parts so it isn't connected anymore and I can safely bucket tool erase at a higher threshold level
-When I'm finished removing the background trim the edges to remove any artifacting / fuzziness using the same erase tool 2 pixels straight line technique, make a new layer with a bright contrasting background to make it easier to spot artifacting

I went back and worked more on trying to trim the edges but got carried away with well, remember that trend where the japs would do this "bubble collage" thing for swimsuit photos in order to creatively make the girls look like they were nude? Yeah I really liked this one gen a lot...

I'll chip in this little trick. Using the Fuzzy Select (magic wand) tool, you can click, hold and drag the mouse up and down to dynamically adjust the threshold (and therefore selected area). Then, going to Select -> Feather and giving it 2px results in an edge that, decently often, doesn't even need extra inpainting to blend in. I've been transferring vfx and other small elements from my "dirty" WIP/inpaint canvas to the final one like this.
Allegedly, PS has a much smarter magic wand tool, but I'm a GIMPtard through and through.

I actually didn't know about that trend at all, most of them seem to fly past me I guess. The nude trick does work really well though because for a moment I thought that was my SECOND gen until I realized "wait, they're not covered in sunscreen". Glad you like the gen so much, maybe I'll gen a standalone Yuuka and Cirno to go along with the Larva gen from earlier.

Same here, it actually bothered me a lot in the OP but I had to rush it because someone made like 15 new threads in less than an hour and we were 2-3 more threads away from getting bumped by the time I was finished with this. Cool! Tried this with an old style LoRA I had lying around that I was dissatisfied with back then and it helped a lot! Especially with this new style I settled on since then, did a few tests on 9 random characters (no this isn't a top 9) and the style seemed to be relatively consistent across all of them, proportions and everything. IMO the only outliers ended up being Tenkai (expected since she's a bit inconsistent to gen normally even with a LoRA), Ariya (also expected because her LoRA SUCKS), Nina and Nareko. Those last 3 got the faces right, but they all have the same problem: proportions, and coincidentally enough, they all use LoRAs made by the same person, so I guess I can chalk it up to that. Tenkai, on the other hand, has the opposite problem: correct proportions, but her eyes look distinctively different from the rest of the gens. She also uses a LoRA, but in her case I know it's the character's fault and not the LoRA creator's, because the Saragimaru LoRA was made by the same person and those gens came out just fine. Also, admittedly Tenkai-chan doesn't look anywhere near as "off" as those 3, so maybe I just got unlucky with my gens.

Oh and before anyone points it out, these are all raw T2Is, no editing done whatsoever, hence all the mistakes present.

Nah you have valid criticisms. In hindsight yeah if I had cared more about polishing the results instead of just putting them out for funsies I could have blurred the edges of the bubbles a bit to make them smoother. And I initially went with flat colours but they were kinda bright looking and I recalled some bubble pictures had a kind of noise texture overlay and wanted to recreate that. The first Yuuka image I tried using a spellcard background, wanted to use Yuuka's but I couldn't find her PoFV one even on the sprite sheets so I went with one from UFO, there's a lot better backgrounds I think the stage 3 background from IN is actually a better one because its already a repeating texture so I could scale it down a bit to make it look better. Second image I wanted to actually do the Yukari eye border thing however I couldn't find any that was in the AoCF style (which looks a lot less gross) so I thought of using Ariya's wing texture since it has similar eyes but I couldn't tile it well enough so I just increased the size so it was just the blurry grey noise pattern instead
All in all maybe just choosing a desaturated colour would have been the smarter choice, sometimes lazier is better! <- I am a fake NEET to have not realised this
and adding to that, think I could have been smarter with the bubble placement. I think keeping them roughly the same size is the key to making the collage look better even if I want to expose all that juicy skindents

Wondering if I could combine it with AI somehow like ask someone to gen Reisen or all the moon buns in a bikini(s), I'd make a bubble collage for that pic but then send the isolated bubble "sheet" and ask for someone to slop it into some kind of metal plate or like Eientei shoji with bullet holes instead and then try reapplying that over the original image. Could look sick

Damnit, not again! In my defense, the bulge was added in I2I at a relatively low denoise as an afterthought, didn't even inpaint it or anything like that because coincidentally enough I also wasn't really 100% in on that scenario either. Initially, it just looked like the guy had his shorts pulled down a little bit, but the bulge actually just made that impossible. Nice going, me.

So far, so good, the only issue so far is Forge Coupler, for some reason it just severely degrades the style no matter how many different settings and tag arrangements I try. Usually not an issue because I always also I2I the image with everything afterwards, but with this chibi style in particular, the style degradation isn't just stuff like lighting, texture, or facial features that can be changed with a relatively low denoise, it's body proportions too, and that's a little trickier to fix.

Addendum: at the very least, the little testing I've done so far shows that this style at the very least actually makes it *way* easier to stitch together different images for regional prompting compared to my usual one, as in, the subjects don't look as out of place when put together in the same gen, probably because of the simpler lighting, so perhaps Coupler not working isn't that big of an issue to begin with as going regional won't be that annoying anyways.

A collage sounds like it'd be fun, I enjoyed the gens we did for Christmas. We'd all have to agree on a theme/format and things like gen size, though (1:1, 4:3, etc). Also, depending on how many anons pitch in, there might be issues with putting the collage together. Say we get 5 contributions, for example, I can't really arrange 5 images neatly into a collage without leaving some awkward blank spaces in there, unless I make some images larger than others, which doesn't sit right with me.

FWIW I tried plugging crypto-chibi tags into some artist styles, and the results did swing substantially as far as body shapes. Which stands to reason to me. A large part of a style is, indeed, the bodily and facial proportions; disrupt that, and the model's thrown conflicting concepts. Unless the style itself features adjacent shapeology. As always, the safest bet with IL remains to find a pre-existing style that already does what you want it to do.

Forge Couple IS regional prompting. Just that in its basic preset it has 3 regions - left half, right half and all image. The last one's supposed to pull in your style tags, those being usually put in after or before the {prompt}, but depending on your setup that might not be the case. You may also need to fiddle with the Global Effect Weight for the style tags to apply correctly.
... Then again, I don't fuckin' know; I never learned the thing because it adds to the gen time, and inpaint modifies characters well enough when cued and with greater flexibility.

...what if that's sort of what I want? I mean, don't get me wrong, in an ideal world I'd be able to just chibify it the exact amount I want and call it a day, but the volatility of the tag has made me want to settle on my alternate style instead just being simpler lighting, chibified faces and different lines (notice how the hairs have a more "angular" look to them, for example?).
Either way, I do agree with you that in THAT image in particular, the proportions just look a bit too close to my main style. I don't want the bodies to change too much, but I don't want them to look the exact same either.. again, still getting used to the style overall. Helps to have an external opinion to let me know if it's even working to begin with or if I'm just looking at it from a biased point of view so thanks for that.

The big problem with it is that one of the trigger-words is "chibi", and we all know how awful that tag is, hence me just using the LoRA as-is together with the aforementioned chibi-related tags instead and seeing how it turns out when fused with my style. If anyone knows of any similar LoRAs or even artist styles, do share.

Yeah, did all of this, set the global tag to be last line of the prompt, intensity at 1.0, andddd... still had issues. At this point I'm just assuming the extension itself is janky when it comes to that. I dunno. Whatever. I'm starting to realize I'd best just stop relying on it altogether, it's just really annoying having to get empty backgrounds to put my characters into in order to regional i2i. By the way I used Coupler for picrel which I think contributed towards my aforementioned proportion issues being even worse.

For context the pic was taken from the ending page of a short doujin story about Akyuu finally getting to meet Ariya because she decided to turn her shrine into a pyramid, the creator's notes was that the reason Akyuu was behaving "strangely" in the story was supposed to be caused by Nina but they couldn't find a good spot to fit her in and this was the picture accompanying it which I found strangely hot but then again Akyuu's on my "top 10 list of 2hus I would bang" so those two together is something I've already thought of

One of the odd things about Youmu as a character is that she's a dork nearly 24/7 but she has a serious side to her that usually shows up when she actually gets into a fight and focuses and I'd argue that while Sakuya names a lot of her attacks after Jack the Ripper / serial killer stuff Youmu is the bigger serial killer here with her "tsujigiri" attitude something that one MinusT animation actually got down perfectly. (and yes this is where a lot of the "badass" Youmu art comes from)
Its not often depicted in hentai though because it's rarely going to show up in sex though I have seen some artists do it (namely one where it's Youmu on top forcing the pov and she's mad the guy finished too soon)

I distinctively remember your chibi-esque style looking different, both in texture and proportions. Sagume I guess? I gen her quite a lot since she ranks pretty high for me, she's also been my go-to for style tests for a while now precisely due to how consistent she is, at most she'll have her wing on the wrong side but that's an easy fix. I think the only time a Sagume gen gave me a lot of trouble was that ballet gen I did recently, and even then it was only her foot, and I was trying really hard to get the pose exactly right.
Funnily enough though, and similarly to what was posted above, the character I'm usually associated with gives me a fair bit of trouble whenever I gen her, here's a list of common Rika problems I face:
-Inconsistent braid length (this one drives me up the wall ngl)
-Extra/misplaced braids (they'll either be in front of her shoulders, or she'll have two pairs in front and behind)
-Hair_bow tag giving her a Reimu-esque hair bow (I'm fully aware of the irony in this one)
-Inconsistent hair color (sometimes her hair looks closer to orange than brown)
-Lack of freckles on arms & thighs (sometimes the AI gives them to her on the T2I, other times not even I2I inpainting is enough to give them to her)
-Small_breasts (despite being tagged with flat_chest every single time)
...I love her anyways, though.

Well, it's not like it was a waste. After setting it up on the local server and setting up remote access so I can connect to it from LAN and VPN, it's been quite the boon. A set of 4 images using my general template went from 2min 34sec on the AMD card to 37sec on the 5060TI. I HAVE ACQUIRED SPEED.

Also, since I'm now on green team, I was able to take a look into local video gen as well. Gotta say, quite disappointed. Not by generation times mind, that I can deal with. But there's no local models available that are trained on anime content so anything you do make looks odd and uncanny movement wise. That's also presuming you get the model to adhere to the prompt at all and not just ignore it. But I imagine that's a skill-issue on my end.

the other gripe I had was that I definitely didn't want to deal with having to download like ~100GB of checkpoints and models just to get the basic setup going. Someone rec'd me an All in one bundle that was about 21GB which worked, but still had the drawbacks mentioned before.

FWIW, inconsistent hair colour happens on everybody. There are times I get jarringly different hues between two inpaints of 0.25 denoise, and I haven't a god damn clue why. Just the nature of diffusion.

The problem is doing any 1x/Whole picture i2i, because that's where you're strapped for resolution, and the freckles get lost/scrambled in the denoise. Giving freckled areas the full, 1MP+, Masked only inpaint is almost mandatory if you want them to have proper definition and not melt into surrounding pixels. This goes doubly for areas already busy with other fleshy greebles, for instance faces.
The advantage of editing freckles on last before detail-inpainting is that you needn't clean up any potentially (i.e. assuredly) screwey freckle patches from the prior, zoomed-out i2i. The editing needn't be complicated, either. I use one of GIMP's stock bristles brushes on a lowered opacity (or linear burn/grain merge, whichever blends best) layer and give it a 0.2-0.25, 1344x1344 inpaint with [body part] + freckles tagged, if at all. Not whatsoever complex.
... Then again, it all leans on how little you can get away with while still satisfying your own 'tism.
