Let's have a comfy Yume Nikki thread!Discuss about your experience with the games, theories, favorite fangames/characters/music/worlds, fond memories, or even just ask for exploration hints.
Am I the only one who can't stand this immersion breaker in 2kki?I'd rather have a dead-end with nothing in it than the dumb meta construction sign. It's a small thing but it takes me out of the world every time.
>>51038165It definitely sucks as a mechanic, but in a way it's become a sort of metanarrative within the game, there's even an entire construction sign world if you really hate yourself that much. I also like to think that Uro actively creates these while she "comes up" with what else to add to her dream world. Some authors seem to be ditching the trend and just add new doors and paths when they want to add a new world to their routes.
>>51038189>it's become a sort of metanarrativeSort of my gripe with it, I'd rather not have elements that remind you it's a game appearing too often. It's also a bit disheartening to be told it straight that a world won't lead anywhere else and you need to backtrack. I wanted to play some 2kki yesterday but immediately ran into one and just didn't feel like it anymore.I did see the world you're talking about which was amusing at least. I like the Nexus-like place that leads to it, hub worlds are cool.To be frank though despite my bitching about immersion I found 2kki to be a much more fun experience while using an external map. I don't know if it'd be looked down upon and if I'm spoiling the game for myself but I was able to play for way longer than usual when able to go to a new world whenever I felt like it instead of wandering and hoping to get lucky. It was also kind of fun by itself just navigating around. Or am I just retarded and that's how everyone plays?
>>51038249I'd say 2kki is a special case, while the original Yume Nikki was better to played blind to truly take in the worlds and explore the sights (to then ask for help online on some of the most obscure areas), 2kki is simply too big to allow for this kind of gameplay. While it's a fun experience to just start up the game and wander around aimlessly (uroing around), there's just so many possible paths you could take that you might never get to see some of the more cool worlds and events if you just play naturally, so it's completely ok imo to just look up some of them and "tour" your way to these places, but some people think that takes away some of the charm of the game and they do have a point in a way, but if you're enjoying it then that should be enough.>I like the Nexus-like place that leads to itye it's a cool worldhttps://youtu.be/92wt-f-h2S0?si=cPsRSKgAR-ZF4Ttt
>>51038279Fair enough. The only other time I recall needing help was with .flow because of picrel. I don't think I would've ever found this effect legit. Really difficult to notice the difference in the wall at a glance.>youtube linkOh, that's different than what it was for me. Funky track but I prefer this gentler one.youtube.com/watch?v=MsT_RLIQaZ4
I sure do love nikkers
Man I was excited for this thread after the one that was kind of the last one only to see the first post and how it'll repeat itself because of a schizophrenic namefag.
>>51038350Just don't give them attention if they turn schizo and try not to bring up the topic.I get that 2kki is controversial but it exists and has its good and bad parts, we've discussed that to death, but if we judged all media by the kinds of people that consume it then we wouldn't be able to enjoy anything at all.Let's remain comfy.
I want to hug Madotsuki!
Wake up thread! (or go to sleep and dream in this case)
So what do you think the jellyfish actually are? The general consensus is that they're "reapers" of sorts, but their shape and color scheme is so reminiscent of Madotsuki herself, almost as though they are representations of her soul or a protective spirit linked to her.
