Looking at this image, I decided later-DEEN era Satoko truly is the ideal of her design across all mediums, what I think of when I think of the character in my head.
With the others, I would say that season 1 of the DEEN anime is my favourite Rena, with the more pointy face, jagged hair and cat eyes. Console sprite Shmion a best and peak Rika is still the Ryukishi sprite set. Their smug, mysterious aura is unmatched by anything he has done in his career subsequently.

I am not sure which localization you are talking about, but I think the intention behind shortening "kawaii" into "kaii" is just to make it cuter as a part of her cutesy persona. She says kaii all the time even when she is not in kaii mode. I don't like the "kyute" either because it is pronounced the same as cute and so it defeats the purpose. I find a better alternative would be to make her say "adowable" like here, although it doesn't hit the same even if it serves the same purpose, but maybe because I am used to the real thing.
It is such a shame that most of her speech quirks just don't translate well into English.

Hasn’t this franchise suffered enough in recent years from a completely ridiculous focus and direction? I just hope it’s something small, insignificant, and easily forgettable and that R07 doesn’t present us with that “amazing” idea he mentioned years ago—making Rika jealous and crazy after Satoshi returns and takes Satoko away. That would really be the final nail in the coffin. But why am I kidding myself? Either way, it’s going to be a total disaster (story-wise, because financially it’ll make enough money again for him to repeat the same process in a few years). It’ll definitely just be another rough draft (because going back to what worked—that is, writing a visual novel and, if it’s good, having it adapted—is an unbelievable problem for him), where the studio will be able to do whatever the hell it wants and fill in the gaps in the incomplete descriptions or visualizations, because, after all, they’re professionals (which IMO is also the reason why we saw so many repetitive scenes in Shitsu. There was no there there. Just a bunch of arcs unworthy of being called arcs). Which is actually pretty great for him, because then the whole story is in this gray area where he can more easily wriggle out of responsibility for the absolute crap that ends up coming out of it.

I'm 100% sure what happened with the answer arcs in Sotsu is that R07's original plot only had some behind the scenes info from the Damashi arcs mostly to guide the staff on what they should hint at in Gou, not actually full events to be shown to the viewers directly in standalone stories.

There was an interview where R07 mentioned the anime staff were the ones that split up and ordered the events in arcs and another where the director says that it was the anime staff adapting the R07 plot that created "Sotsu", really point towards that, IMO. And then there's the fact that R07's description for Rika's death in Wataakashi according to the Hou+ cast party, was basically just what happened in Gou Watadamashi (killed by Mion, found inside the septic tank) and all the additions showing how it happened came from the anime staff, which would line up with that. They picked barebones "background" descriptions and then tried to make full scenes showing them off to the viewers. It's like how a bunch of the Umineko episode 7 manga answers are really stretches or underwhelming (since R07 didn't originally even plan to show them), but it doesn't bother most people since you're rushing through all that. But in this case rather than rushing through this stuff, the anime staff chose to focus on it and give them their own full arcs just to show them playing out.

The one point against this would be Satoko's hesitation against Tatari Teppei, which is never hinted at in Gou, and only makes sense to exist for Tatariakashi from her point of view, but that really could have been just part of Satoko's training loops when she first meets Teppei again.

Onikakushi is probably one of the best adaptations of the DEEN anime. They mess up some clues for the mystery, and foreshadowing for a character you only meet much later, but the actual plot and characterization is mostly there. Starting from the 2nd arc you see them changing things that even affect characterization though and for the 3rd arc the anime somehow freaking skips the climax. From there the arcs often miss some pretty important content (even in Kai when they have an entire season for two VN arcs).

At least most of Meakashi is a long flashback. It's only towards the end of the arc that you get into Watanagashi retelling and even then Shion and Keiichi get a different first meeting with the street gang.

I have just finished umineko episode 3. It was a good chapter overall, but it confused me at the end when Eva dropped that long red truth where she lists who is dead and who is alive to imply that it was impossible for one of the 18 to kill the doctor.
Her wording is very suspicious, she just states who is dead and not when they had died. I am sure there are a few who weren't declared dead in red, and the useless doctor's diagnosis isn't reliable, so I feel there might be someone who was still alive and decided to the doctor because he is fat and an eyesore before dying for real this time.
If my theory turns out to be correct, I will be very disappointed in Battler not bringing this up. He basically caught Eva doing a similar trick the scene before. Please tell me if this is correct or not just to not be shocked when I find the truth.

She is Natsumi Kimiyoshi, originally from Onisarashi, a side-story manga that shows the impact of the GHD in a Kimiyoshi family that lived away from Hinamizawa.

The manga had basic plot by R07, and he also wrote Natsumi in the old Daybreak/Daybreak MEGA action games. He pretty much hasn't touched her since then though, but she appeared in later console arcs that expanded on Onisarashi's story into multiple separate arcs and some police conspiracy based plots. Also, the Gou/Sotsu era Higurashi Mei mobile game where we also got a 1993 adult version of Natsumi.

Several times he highlighted how he had all this Bern/Lambda/Featherine backstory and connections in his head he had never showed anyone, but never said anything similar to that about Rika's early loops.

She doesn't get angry at K1 when he is lying. In early tatari she knew he was lying in the bento contest but laughed about it, and in late watanagashi she knew about the storehouse but then it turned into an emotional moment between them. Even in tsumi when he betrayed her at the end, she was pissed about her plans failing instead of him lying to her.
The only instance I remember where she got angry at him for lying is in onikakushi because he was antagonizing her and the others, but she then made up for it.

Holy crap, Kei-chan is such a fucking annoying asshole in Watanagashi.
I'm on chapter 4 and for some reason he STILL refuses to believe Mion has a twin sister, even though he got outside confirmation from Rika...
Though I do applaud Ryukishi for displaying his paranoid tendencies in a more innocent manner... I hate when people call the characters "yandere" when their crazed behaviours are just aggravated, deeper forms of their normal psychologies.

I think that it was really Mion who went to Kei-chan's house to give him food, cos Shion doesn't live with her, so how can he return the bento box to her when she asks? He can only give it back to Mion, who she is... Plus, she had a reaction that seemed like a mix of jealousy and lovesickness, which really I can only square away as her being simultaneously flattered by Keiichi's praise for her and jealous that it's mistakenly going towards her sister.

Okay, I just finished the motorcycle thugs part and am in Angel Mort again, so I'm gonna keep a close eye on these switchin' sisters... I guess I am becoming paranoid like Kei-chan after all. Sasuga R07!

I don't mind him having this side to him, but the issue is this gets completely forgotten in the other chapters, even though watanagashi K1 is supposed to be the purest K1 with no HS L5. I don't know if r07 changed what he had in mind for him mid story, or if he had no plans at all and changed him to fit the plot of each chapter.

He acts quite awfully towards Mion overall in Wata desu. A major theme of the chapter is "people are the opposite of their exterior" which is a major clue towards the truth about Rika, but the victim of that theme being delivered is Keiichi's characterization. He's constantly being like, "Mion is a CRUDE, DISGUSTING PIECE OF SHIT unlike her CUTE AND DEMURE sister Shion!!! No WAY is she feminine!!!" and Mion just stands there doing (・3・) face. Him trying to sell Satoko and Rika into slavery to Tomita and Okamura is a dick move, too. Not to mention his complete lack of survival instinct in the 2nd half. I think K1 really comes into his own once he gets a sprite, but at least in Tatari Ryukishi starts having him treat the two lolis like close friends on the level of Mion and Rena instead of secondaries that are just there for his amusement.

First half K1 > second half K1. He was an asshole sometimes, but he was the likeable asshole type of main character. Chapters 6 and 7 took his "magician of words" gimmick too far and turned him into a mary sue who solves everything by speaking.

Watanagashi's big problem is that most of it is just stuff happening around Keiichi, the main character and only viewpoint character, which ends up dragging on immensely. The anime fucks up the story on all sides, but the pacing is much more pleasant, so I kinda get it, even if I still wouldn't recommend the anime.
Onikakushi and Tatarigoroshi are much better chapters because Keiichi actually does stuff all the time.
