>>51064745>nobody actually plays the games anymoreThe absolute state of /jp/
>>51067951Hopefully there will be discussions this September. Otherwise, that's when we know it's dead, Jim.
Does anyone else quit the game and ragefap to a 2hu after getting their 1CC ended by them?
>>51067951I've been trying to 1cc Ten Desires but holy fuck the first 3 stages are a complete slog, and all the horizontal bullets suck ass.
>>51068257The difficulty curve of many games is just terrible, the main challege in the first three stages (at least on normal) is not falling asleep.
>>51068257TD is an easy game but it's strict with resources. Every life is precious, so every time I pichuun'd over some dumb shit I died a little inside.
>>51068631Yeah this game is definitely one of the more rage inducing Touhou games alongside 1, 2, and 12.
>>510686501 and 12 I understand, but 2? SoEW is pretty short and simple imo
>>51068795It is short and simple, but most of your deaths will be from enemies or lasers spawning on top of you. That or dying because you tried to squeeze through that gap that you would have passed through no problem in any other Touhou game.
>>51068611Is this a good game to learn the ropes? Or is it too different?
>>51069286It's far too removed from the other mainline titles (except for 3 and 19) for it to be comparable in terms of difficulty. Funnily enough one of the games that seemed to have a decent difficulty curve to me was EoSD, despite how much people complain about Sakuya in that game. It's important to note that no matter which game you play, there'll always be, at the very least, a somewhat noticeable difficulty spike between Stages 3 and 4. This applies even for some of the harder games in the series.>>51068631>>51068650TD in general fucking sucks. Shame that it has a decent soundtrack and pretty cool cast of characters.
>>51069286It's a good way to get better at chaotic random dodging, so use it for that if needed. Otherwise it's too different, yeah.
>>51069413MS, EoSD, SA, and UFO have the best difficulty curves I think. Also Sakuya really isn't as big of a deal as people make her out to be... at least until her last spellcard.
>>51067951The majority of the people who play the games are on Discuck and have no reason to be here.
>>51067951I've been playing mostly danmaku fangames for the past year so I don't have much to contribute on the official game front.
I've realized that my (laptop) keyboard doesn't register if I press shift, Z and X at the same time, but it works if I rebind X to something else.I'm not going to ruin anything by getting used to non-standard binds, like Z, A, right?
Is there ever a reason to strategically use a focused or unfocused bomb, or is one always better than the other?Mostly in older titles, if that matters
The previous thread died before I could post this but I'm the guy that had been trying to 1cc eosd for 9 yearsI still don't really understand what "misdirection" but thanks to the one guy that told me to switch from Reimu A to something else, I switched to Marisa B and 1ccd the game a day later. It turns out actually dealing damage to the enemy is a really good trick for winning the game.I guess the people that told me a decade ago that Reimu A is the easiest way to 1cc because "muh homing" just trained me wrong, as a joke.
>>51073910I'm sorry, but I need to ask: How did it take you 9 years to beat EoSD? How often did you play? Did you ever use thprac?
>>51073882Not really.>>51073887The unfocused bomb is more offensive and thus usually more useful since you get a period of invincibility anyway.>>51073910Misdirection simply means "badly" directing the bullets aimed at you, because of you moving away at the last second. Also again, it's a matter of playstyle in the end. If you're good enough at dodging but get distracted easily, ReimuA is the better choice because it can let you focus on dodging. If you're not that dependent on that, then speedkilling with ReimuB or Marisa definitely does you a better favor.
>Moon & Metal Sign "Sunshine Reflector" >Bat "Vampire Sweep">Banquet "All Things Come Full Circle in Death">Photon "Doppler Effect">"Yakumo's Nest">Death Sign "Scythe of Final Judgement">Cloud Realm "Thunder Court in the Sea of Abstruse Clouds"why did SWR have so many bullshit spell cards?
spell cards you just can't understandi'll start
i die more to patchouli and sakuya more than remilia, i think i need a break before i snap my keyboard in half.
the more i play eosd the less i get the hype. i rate it less than lls and ms on all fronts. glad pcb isn't as shit.
>>51074065I would play it in bursts spread out across that time since 2017Some years i'd have a few dozen runs, some just a few. It's hard to say how many runs in total but i'd guess probably 150-200 or so.I don't know what thprac is>>51075571My playstyle is influenced by the fact that my eyes are not so good so I have a hard time focusing on the character and doing tiny dodges when the screen gets too dense, half the time I go sort of cross eyed and perceive the entire screen at once which helps with big fast patterns but makes the small dense ones very difficult.I rely on moving as little as possible during most patterns.Killing things faster probably helped because it meant the screen would fill up with a lot less crap because the enemy dies faster and I have to do less small dodges.Anyways I'm now playing pcb. Using sakuya A. Stages 1-4 seem very easy. Stage 5 moderately difficult but doable. The stage 6 boss though seems insanely difficult, remilia was a joke compared to this. I couldn't get through it even by spamming like 20 bombs.
>>51077694>I don't know what thprac isIt's a program for practicing individual stages/bosses/spellcards. I owe most of my 1cc's to it.https://github.com/touhouworldcup/thprac
>>51068168No but I'm pretty sure the one you posted made me ritual for the first time and it worked
>>51077520It's just the game most people started with, and it's got a cast which pulls many people's heartstrings.
>helps you capture the spell card you're struggling withi kneel
>>51077805nta but even with the consistency boost from practising, eosd rng will still find a way to spread your bottom lips and rape them bloody.
>>51079184Literally me back when I was going for my Normal clears. For Lunatic, Minogame's Let's Play videos helped me quite a bit.https://youtu.be/cgk9Y6O7yRg

HRtP GBA remake update: reached a stopping point for overhauling the SinGyoku boss battle. There's still plenty more to be done like finishing the entrance animation and adding a defeat animation. I wanted to add more character to the grid background, and I got inspired by a little shrine called Kume no Heinai-do (久米平内堂) near a hostel I stayed at.https://dynamic-media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-o/25/9a/7e/19/caption.jpgI wanted to fill the shrine with meaningfully selected flora, so I researched ancient Greek associations with gatekeeping/crossroads to fit with SinGyoku being the gatekeeper of Makai and Jigoku. Hecate is a goddess of crossroads and was said to have a garden of poisonous and deadly plants so there were many to pick from. The fit became even more clear after I then learned she is usually described as having three forms, each a distinct entity. Hecate's usual depiction is a triple bodied "triformis" statue called a Hekateion, which I unsubtly used as the pillar base of the stone lantern from the real shrine. The banners are supposed to be dot-matrix displays with vertically scrolling text, but I haven't thought of a great use case for them yet.The demo shows lunatic difficulty with God mode and infinite bombs enabled for convenience. Bombs explode on impact if the sphere form is moving at a high enough velocity, otherwise they are deflected at a high speed. Bombs are ineffective against the sphere form but do hit the humanoid forms, a change retained from my initial implementation. I replaced the pattern where bullets are placed at random points along a semi-circle and fired downward with a pattern where spreads of bullet stacks are aimed at the player but have a random angle offset added. The number of stacks varies by difficulty and for the lower difficulties, by the number of cycles through the patterns during the phase. The original pattern is simply too reliant on RNG to make for good repeatable gameplay. The crossing bullets pattern is aimed around the player instead of at a downward right angle.I also added a route selection menu based on the one in the original game, but that will change longer term as I have other ideas for it. This one will remain in the game for fun and tinkering though.
>>51082110Very nice pixel art! I especially liked how SinGyoku transitioned in and out of Ying-Yang form.
>super high stress but successful 1cc>feel a cold coming on the second i relax in the creditsbroke the immune system (;′⌒`)
>>51082486120 heartbeats per minute while completely stationary. Fucking video games, man.Touhou is at it's best when wrecking your nerves.
>>51082486i always get that every time i 1cc a touhou game, and it's only when i get a successful run too. very strange stuff...
>>51082509from what i can gather, it's actually a real thing people have dubbed the 'Let-Down Effect'.
>>51082522very interesting, i thought i was just crazy.
>>51082110Man, this looks amazing. Can we look forward to you releasing wip betas eventually?
>>51082488>120 heartbeats per minuteRookie numbers. Pic is from one of my first few runs of UFO.
>>51077520filtered lol
>>51081987That video was from a decade ago. He sounds utterly dead inside these days lmao
>>51064745There are times like this where a bunch of shit comes on screen and my eyes start to bug out and I can't comprehend wtf is happening. What do?
>>51087920Go to the spot where shit is sparser, and unfocus your eyes a little so you can see the bullets coming from all around you. The rest is just practice.
>>51087920Focus only on the "relevant" bullets which are usually the ones coming towards you. It helps to practice the spellcard so you know where to look. Remember to "actively" dodge: move around incoming danmaku instead of trying to position yourself so they pass over you.
>>51087920This is static. You're not supposed to rawdog it, you're supposed to memorize it.
>>51087016smartass
>>51087016+1 upvote :D
>>51076846You know these games atre supposed to be difficult, right?
what the fuck is her problem
>>51095247get up close and shoot until she's defeated. that usually works. if not, LV2 spell. lily black is ridiculous though
>>51095247>>51095505For me, it's Aya's stupid homing bullets.
>>51095247>>51095505OH NO NO N-
>>51095247she's just so excited to tell you about spring that she busts all over the screen
>>51095778It's funny how hard Stage 7 Aya is when Aya is kind of a shit character (gameplay-wise). The AI simply has perfect reflexes, which eliminates the problems with Aya's defense.
>>51097086Last night I beat the game with Youmu, but I couldn't beat the game with Reisen, two straight tries on Normal difficulty. Lost my first continue to Medicine and the next one to Komachi, then lost to Eiki twice. That and losing the extra extend to Sakuya on the second try.
speaking of the vs. games, has anybody actually played online with others? is it fun?
>>51097381I played PoFV with my buddy last night actually! It was pretty fun until he ragequit lol
>>51097381I played with a guy from /2hug/ once and it was quite fun, the hardest part is finding someone close to your level of skill but I'd guesstimate that most players are around normal-hard level.
>>51097902Forgot to mention it was PoFV. I've only tried the demo of UDoALG so far, but it didn't feel nearly as fun as PoDD and PoFV.
>>51082947are you ... okay? But I understand. I've been trying to 1CC UFO on Normal for the past couple weeks, I can make it up to Ichirin/Unzan, but I'm stuck on them. :(
>>51099596I wholeheartedly recommend trying another game for now. On a UFO-normalized difficulty scale with Byakuren at 10 and Shou at 9, Ichirin is about 6. It's not considered one of the top 3 hardest games for nothing.
>>51099605gulpI feel as if I'll be so strong if I can do it though, like the other games (of which I've only played some of TD and EoSD) will become nothing to me...Like Rock Lee
>>51099674That's actually an issue in its own: once you've beaten UFO the other games (besides SA, LoLK, card-less UM and FW) will barely take any effort to 1cc, so you'll be missing out on a lot of the excitement that comes from clenching victory out of the jaws of defeat. And the cost is having to play the same game for several weeks, so it's a lose-lose scenario.
I'm trying to play these games with my here GameSir Tarantula controller but the games don't recognize it, anyone know a fix?
>>51099674>of which I've only played some of TD and EoSDGoing from those two to UFO is like jumping in the deep end after wading in a kiddie pool. I'd recommend playing IN or MoF first.
what is in your opinion the most fun extra?
>>51099680Ah I actually never thought of it that way, that's a good point! I should give myself a break. Also I've been doing UFO without bombs and restarting the entire thing every time I die, so maybe my methods are not ideal.
>>51100150EoSD, PCB, and UFO. can't pick oneleast fun extra for me would seriously have to be SA and IN
>>51100090Try using a gamepad mapper like Joy2Key or the more modern AntiMicroX.
>>51100217I tried Joy2Key but it gives me insane lag. Sometimes it gets stuck in a single input and gets me killed
>>51100225That's why I use antimicrox, yeah. No noticeable lag with it, and I'm quite sensitive to input lag.If you care about lag, I suggest looking into openinputlagpatch as well, it's like vpatch but supports most of the newer games too.https://github.com/khang06/OpenInputLagPatchhttps://maribelhearn.com/tools?hl=en#oilp(info page and dl page)
Lol why is PCB so much easier on normal. Before this, I had completed EoSD on Hard and only encountered a problem on the final Scarlet Gensokyo spellcard.
>>51097381I've netplayed a couple of times with another Anon who was excellent in the game. We mostly ran Merlin vs Tewi sets, and I was only capable of taking a set once or twice top in the few sessions we've had, and a few games here and there. I was doomed if they switched to even just a character matching my own's viability or close, like Yuuka. I ought to try playing more often, PoFV has one of the most inoffensive forms of sandbagging i've ever seen in a game, since kneecapping your offense feels much more up to the character you pick rather than something you try to do and that feels off to the weaker opponent. General game awareness and control will for sure keep the advantage in your favor as is often the case when you're just the better player in any game, but for some reason, my brain doesn't register it as particularly hostile or awkward.
>>51101201Hack?
Speaking of phantasmagorias, the demo of the fangame LoOZ got an update this tuesday. That's a pretty big list of changes.I'm mostly just interested in the new mod support myself, I managed to add aya to the previous demo as a test (https://files.catbox.moe/bblv3j.mp4 for the curious) even without it, but it should make things easier.
>>51102499Posted an old link, here's a newer showcase with more accurate charge attacks (and a permanently filled charge bar for testing purposes).https://files.catbox.moe/uc7zfu.mp4
closing this thread with a hope that all danmaku players will someday find a girl who is amazed by their skill
>>51100232>OpenLagInputPatchWe use Neopatch now, gramps.https://github.com/astral4/neopatch/releases/tag/v0.9.1
>>51104149Very nice, thanks kid.Where have you heard about this one, by the way? I just checked the archives and it hasn't been posted anywhere on 4chins before.
>>51103948doubtful. i will die alone on the street somewhere one day. these games are just a distraction from the inevitable.
>>51104170Joined the Touhou 'cord just because I was curious to see what most people were using for input reduction nowadays. I still use OILP for the games that aren't supported yet.
>>51104199The migration of knowledge from forums to dicksword really hits hard. You can't even search that stuff with google, which only gave me three results when searching [touhou "neopatch"] specifically, and none in every other case.
>>51104172you just need a miracle
>>51068168No but I did fap to Yuyuko as celebration when I first beat Perfect Cherry Blossom
>>51101201How do you see this, im curious how my file looks like
