This thread is for the discussion of anison (anime song), the genre of music made specifically for anime. Whether it be dedicated anime singers, voice actors, idols, as long as the song was made for an anime, it belongs here. Discuss your favorite anison artists and anime songs, and share your events and experiences!

Discussion of doujin music, anikura, idols, seiyuu (outside of their music careers), and mainstream Japanese artists go in their respective threads.

Hey Anon, what is your opinion on YUI being called an anisinger?

Sure, she had some hits with anime tie-ins, but those were neither the songs that made her famous, nor the ones that she is most remembered for today. So I don't like the use of that word.
>>
>>51073741
I don't have any strong feeling towards those. Lots of Japanese musicians are simply known as anisong singers in the west even though they are not a specialist of that
>>
>>51073741
People call YUI an anison singer? She's a mainstream artist that just happens to have done a few anime tracks here and there. She's no more of an anison artist than Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, or Higedan are. Even Ado for that matter.
>>
>>51073741
>YUI
honestly, literally who. i checked her "essentials" playlist on apple music and i don't know a single song. she is normie/riajuu
>>
>>51074231
You don't know CHER.R.Y? That's like a staple of mid-2000s J-Pop. It was also recently covered in Roshidere.
>>
>>51074231

Retarded zoomer-kun ...

>People call YUI an anison singer?
The greatest even:
https://youtu.be/E9CYLfOJS-8?is=j7dHHMnoZEHi-CUb

Now I am her fan, and I guess the youuber meant it as a compliment, but that's just not the niche she belongs in. It's like calling Kuroyume (lw, I know) the greatest Japanese ska band because they made a ska song or two. A real anison singer deserves to be called the best.
>>
>>51074325
that's the thing, i don't listen to pop, japanese or otherwise, so i wouldn't know. back to YUI, i looked her up and it seems she did songs for bleach/FMA. in that case, don't worry, contributing songs to big shonens doesn't really make you an anison artist, they often get the actual big ones for these. i think the benchmark should be "if they get to perform at anisama, do they stay to do the cheesy theme song at the end with everyone else or are they too cool to do that". hence masayuki suzuki is not an anison artist, but takanori nishikawa is.
>>
At the rate things are going, anison will be almost a totally dead genre in 5-10 years. Anime songs will almost entirely be utaite or mainstream acts, while dedicated anime artists will slowly age out of the industry.
>>
>>51074749
Maybe they think all Japanese singers are anison artists.
>>
What new song from this season are you most looking forward to?
>>
>>51084616
Yomi no Tsugai OP 2 seems pretty good from what little I've heard. Better than OP 1 at least.

And Nanoha OPs are always good.

Weird, the new Kuroneko OP and ED full versions aren't out yet?
>>
Finally, the Tenbin songs are out.
>>
I really liked the OST in the new GITS, it's nowhere near as good as the movies', but I actually noticed how well it fitted.
>>
Anisama this weekend and even this thread doesn’t care anymore? (I only realised just now)
>>
>>51098933
Speaking only for myself but I have kind of lost interest in Anisama guests being very samey for a while.
Also they could stand to do streams at this point. Attendance hasn't seem to recovered post-corona the way other events have.

>>
>>5109905
People say this about attendence every year, there are always some tickets available.
>>
>>51099073
>the audience is cringe
fact
>>
there are basically two main courts of anisama antis
the first, are chinkoids, they're mad anisama has been called the biggest anison event in the world because they had an event once that seated 50k people or something while SSA seats 35k. it's that simple. verifiable increase since covid.
the other comes from newfags, people that dont really care about history, bandwagoners that read some Shonen jump manga, watched its adaptation slop with a mainstream artistic playing the OP/ED and thinks that anisama sucks because said mainstream artist isnt on the roster; there are also a smaller sect of similar people that are obsessed with brand wars, they're mainly for King records and Sony, it's so retarded, I mean it's obvious Lantis has more artists but anisama origin started with lantis siding with king under dwango.
hope I've helped

Anisama Day1 in 8 hours, lads
if you guys had 100$ to bet on who the otori is gonna be, how would you spread it?
pic related, my spread

And here's my day 2 predictions, bit harder
>>
>>51101613
Did she start the show?
>>
I like this
https://youtu.be/23UW7hK9C_A
>>
>>51101658
that means she finished it, in the west otori is similar to headliner, but we usually advertise them as such while in anisama they keep it a secret as an homage
>>
>>51101626
My money is on TrySail, Miku would be a scandal
>>
>>51102305
only scandalous thing would be getting one before her senpais, but she deserves it eventually, been 10 years, man
>>

Do the Japanese even care about Anisama anymore? Feels like things have gone downhill ever since COVID. Nice to see the same artists over and over, but their actual popularity has mostly gone down the toilet as utaite and mainstream artists have taken over.
>>
There's nothing normie japs fear more than liking what's not the most popular thing anymore, even in niche hobbies and interests. Something about "jumping ship" as fast as possible in their DNA.
They also as a society doom and gloom and cry and shit themselves over the smallest of inconveniences, recently I've seen a lot of bitching on X about 'perfume' and 'leaking sound from headphones', and ofc 4chan memes making fun of their train chair reclining autismo.
>>
japs are mad that anisama "doesn't invite" these big names, they cannot be that fucking dense, can they? the artists are decided by committee, the event guys talk to the labels and production companies directly, it's obvious these big names want nothing to do with the festival lmao
>>
Maybe Anisama should adapt with the times and allow camera time even if only during the last song (the yearly theme song). Unless they are scared of the empty seats leaking out.
>>
>>51101918
Anisama used to have the tori start the day with a colab and then close it, guess they changed that.
>>
>>51103428
What I want to know is what the actual otaku demographic thinks about modern Anisama these days, or how they feel about the empty seats. Do we know if the empty seats is because they opened up sections that were previously closed off, or are they genuinely not selling as well as they used to?

In case people didn’t know, Anisama is at a different venue and a different time of year this year because SSA is closed for renovations.
>>
>>51103843
What is this?

>>51103887
Not sure if that makes the empty seats better or worse then.

What the fuck is this setlist? Most of the songs are old songs. Which is fine if you're into the artists themselves, but come on. No wonder they're pissed.
>>
>>51103887
>Makuhari Messe
>and it's not even the event hall, but the convention center
Their venue is smaller than SSA and they couldn't even sell out? And if the SSA was unavailable, couldn't they have rented out a different arena like Yokohama Arena, K-Arena, or somewhere else?

For a moment I genuinely thought that was Konomi
>>
>>51104006
>Most of the songs are old songs
They even moved this year to July so universities still haven’t started their summer holidays yet. Being fashionable and attracting young people was not top of their agenda. At the moment old fans are their target market.
>>
>>51104283
Imagine going to a smaller venue than SSA and not even selling it out.
>>
>>51103829
overwhelmingly positive reactions, few detractors will be antis no matter what
they literally said they opened more seats to sell on the week of the event, and they could had added even more seats from what I've seen in plans and pics leaked
>>
>>51101626
Just woke up, I guess YuiKaori finishing it was too much of a wishful thinking.
I'll still take Konomin.
>>
>>51103923
These links are always a good laugh:
>"No, really.
T>hings like K-On!, Madoka Magica, and Haruhi are gone. "
Niggas stuck 20 years in the past saying anything that's not in its peak is dying. Don't forget to gatekeep your hobbies from casuals, anons.

This is my day 3 predictions for otori
made it yesterday, but now that Konomin finished up day2, the chances of the event tori being masayoshi oishi should be much higher

no way aimi is getting it. it's gonna be sphere, lock it in

So how did Anisama Day 3 turn out?
>>

bit mid, no big surprises, masayoshi headlined it
I thought uma musume would bring aimi and seriko as surprises at least
