>>51074325that's the thing, i don't listen to pop, japanese or otherwise, so i wouldn't know. back to YUI, i looked her up and it seems she did songs for bleach/FMA. in that case, don't worry, contributing songs to big shonens doesn't really make you an anison artist, they often get the actual big ones for these. i think the benchmark should be "if they get to perform at anisama, do they stay to do the cheesy theme song at the end with everyone else or are they too cool to do that". hence masayuki suzuki is not an anison artist, but takanori nishikawa is.
At the rate things are going, anison will be almost a totally dead genre in 5-10 years. Anime songs will almost entirely be utaite or mainstream acts, while dedicated anime artists will slowly age out of the industry.
