Do people still talk about ruriruri's show? I've been trying to find live performances of the OST on ニコニコ and it's barren, only the OP theme gets any attention
Not the anime board.
Not the vtuber board as well. Alas.
>>51149608People brought this up when frieren was first getting popular because they look alike. It also seems like this series is long concluded so natural fan engagement is bound to be low. However, if you like something and want the next generation to appreciate it too, find some way to share it with others and make them check it out. AMVs, Fan animations, A blog, Video essays, Clips, make people interested.https://m.youtube.com/@thatkodochagirl/videosI found this channel last year, just someone sharing clips and talking about an obscure anime they love and making others aware of it, it goes a long way in getting eyes on something.Another good example is kenny lauderdale. The guy got some eyes on a handful of anime from the 60s that nobody in the west heard about. Also, this is now a media preservation thread where we discuss how to showcase otaku media to others in today's disjointed internet.
I might have to look into /jp/ adjacent discord servers (anyone know a few?), but I've come to realize that it's just difficult to find people seriously into this kind of niche to talk to.Western anime "fans" just watch seasonal slop, they're not die-hard otaku who've seen 1k+ shows and do japanese mining.Japanese otaku too are more concerned with following everything that's coming out rather than take interest in old shows, the mindset is a lot more consumerist over there.I need to know more /jp/ spaces
>>51150065Real discussion online is really difficult and has been for years now, and stumbling upon the right kind of people to talk to is sheer luck. You can try looking for people who make projects regarding shows and works you love and form a connection, and then take it to discord.I was able to befriend a bunch of fanartists of things I like by reaching out on bsky
>>51149825>this is now a media preservation thread where we discuss how to showcase otaku media to others in today's disjointed internet.Does this thread count as that sort of thing? >>51133038
>>51150065Sounds like you need an autist retirement community or else to become able to let your outdated, dead series go. If otaku were all like you we'd never get anything new. No new trends, memes, or even works secondary or main. >1k+ showsName 1000 series worth watching.
>>51150152oh yeah, kinda.Maybe we should merge stuff like this into a thread where anons show and tell cool obscure otaku stuff.
>>51150206not that anon, butI think that is a jaded way to look at it.I was talking about retro anime in my teens with others my age, and in some circles like books it is a no brainer to read stuff from hundreds or thousands of years ago.Good art does not age.I do agree that filtering by series watched is kind of stupid, though.I had a lot of fun discussion with newbies and there are plenty of idiots with hundreds of anime watched.
>>51150206Autist retirement community sounds kino
>>51150065Okay so lets talk maid anime. I've never watched Hand Maid May or Mahoromatic or Hanaukyo maid-tai or anything. What's the definitive classic maid anime to watch or read? I've read the Kore ga Watashi no Goshujin-sama manga, but it's more of a channer parody and the anime adaptation was trash. What works made older otaku love maids in the first place?
>>51149608Not really, the 30th anniversary passed a couple weeks ago and it was quiet even from the JP side of things - it didn't even get the typical pop up shop.
