She pretended to be human & a hermit to get close to people who used her arm for their own sorcery but eventually ended up essentially changing herself into something akin to an actual hermit.Reminds me, I recall reading a nip's analysis on the manga saying it was about Kasen at first wanting to get her old emotions back, only to realize it'd give her little but malice and deciding to go on as a hermit.
