日本人だけど質問ある?
I'm Japanese—got any questions?

東方とかアニメとかについて答えるよ。
I'll answer questions about things like Touhou and anime.

東方紅魔郷はプレイしたことあるかい?
Have you ever played *Touhou Koumakyou*?

僕はフランドールと博麗霊夢が好きだよ!
I like Flandre and Reimu Hakurei!

I've always wondered: How many Japanese Touhou fans actually play the games? In the Western community, there is a sizable amount of "secondaries". These are people who are fans, but do not play the original Touhou games. Are "secondaries" a majority of the Japanese Touhou community as well? Have you ever beaten a Touhou game without using a continue?

>Have you ever played *Touhou Koumakyou*?
I'm working on clearing the Extra stage!

>I like Flandre and Reimu Hakurei!
Cool! I like Satori!
>>
Hello! The Touhou community is huge, and there are plenty of people who play the original games.
I don't know the exact numbers, though... sorry about that. If you look at Japanese X (Twitter), you can see just how lively the Touhou scene is. I'm also excited because *Touhou Koumakyou* (Embodiment of Scarlet Devil) is apparently being released for the Switch by Nintendo this September! What is it about Satori Komeiji that you like? Is it her "Third Eye"? In Japan, Touhou became famous thanks to "Yukkuri" videos created by fans about 20 years ago; nowadays, "Yukkuri"-related videos are so abundant on YouTube that practically everyone in Japan knows about them! There are undoubtedly more fans of derivative works than people who have played the original games, but everyone loves the characters regardless! The reason fewer people have played the originals is likely because not many people own the specific types of PCs required to run the games.
As for the Touhou titles I've played, they include *Touhou Gensoukyou* (PC-98), *Touhou Fuumaroku* (PC-98), *Touhou Koumakyou*, *Touhou Youyoumu*, *Touhou Eiyashou*, *Touhou Fuujinroku*, *Touhou Chireiden*, and *Touhou Seirensen*!

>What is it about Satori Komeiji that you like? Is it her "Third Eye"?
Satori's ability to read minds is pretty cool. Life would be more convenient with a power like that, but people would come to hate you because of it. In that case, the best thing to do would be to try and keep it secret! Aside from her power, I also really like Satori's appearance and personality. I wish she appeared more in Cheating Detective Satori (Chireikiden).

>"Yukkuri"-related videos are so abundant on YouTube that practically everyone in Japan knows about them!
That's interesting! I've heard Yukkuri are pretty popular, and that they appear in many different kinds of content. In the West, Yukkuri are still obscure. Even a lot of Touhou fans are only vaguely aware of their existence. I myself am a big fan of Yukkuri.

>The reason fewer people have played the originals is likely because not many people own the specific types of PCs required to run the games.
That makes sense. I imagine the release of the EoSD (Koumakyou) remake will make the game a lot more accessible to a lot of people. In that case, I hope to see more remakes in the future!

>Touhou titles
I myself have cleared EoSD (Koumakyou), PCB (Youyoumu), IN (Eiyashou), MoF (Fuujinroku), SA (Chireiden), and TD (Shinreibyou)! I also got close to beating UFO (Seirensen), but collecting the UFOs made it difficult. Though if you're lucky, you can get a lot of extra lives.

うんうん、うまくいってるよ。僕は日本人じゃないので日本語より英語を理解しやすい

I'm just learning the language, this took so much time of looking my notes ;-;

Thanks to both of you for the replies. Even though the messages were translated, I can really feel the kindness in your responses to a Japanese person like me visiting an overseas forum. I love Cirno too! She’s in those McDonald's commercials, right? It might be presumptuous of me to say, but I think Japanese culture is cool! (Sorry for the late reply!)

:) <- Is it true that these two characters are used overseas? In Japan, if you type "Yazirushi," you get ""!

How old were you when you got into Touhou? I was surprised to learn how popular Touhou is with children in Japan to the point of the series being part of the actual Japanese culture itself.

I've played it but I never beat it. I did beat Youyoumu (known as PCB/Perfect Cherry Blossom to us as we generally just abbreviate the english subtitle) at one point though, and the fighting games. I don't really have the free time to grind games like these nowadays but I guess I might try the remake of EoSD (Koumakyou).
I like Kasen!

Western ASCII emoticons nowadays are mostly just the unicode emoji, but people used to use things like ":)" and ";_;" and ":D" much more in the past. You still see them every once in a while, depending on where you go.

I hope you aren't gone now. The rules are kind of strict and we can't do anything about our moderators sadly.
Is there any particular anime you like? I've found myself into old stuff recently like Votoms or Hokuto no Ken.

Do psychic powers belong in fantasy, as a power separate to magic?
