Demons. Both the fake demons born from human obsession and the real deal. The last boss seems to be the MC 's imouto but it's incomplete. It fits well with Nasuverse but for some reason Nasu seperated it into its own thing.
Old Nasu works usually focus on certain aspects of his setting to keep thing fresh. Kara no kyoukai is mostly about espers and some lore about mages, Fate and Mahoyo are about mages and true magic, Tsuki is about the church and vampires.

This is what Saber means to me.

She represents the Lunar aspect of a hero's soul. When Shirou met her she was illuminated by the moonlight. Dressed in a deep blue dress and silver armour representing the night sky. Moon and the night were traditionally associated with the feminine. Think of menstrual cycles, feeling coming about from the subconscious during nighttime, dreams connecting you with your past etc.

This is also evident with her within the plot itself as she is the one that ultimately brings Shirou back to his past with her ties to Kiritsugu and her being a literal ghost. Only by confronting and reconciliating with his past, while also lerning to love along the way, did Shirou grow a heart and did not end up as a cold man of tin.

Now, think of how they departed. She vanished by being touched by the first rays of morning light. The Sun represents the masculine, the actualised and the active. Shirou can only now truly start living as he has actualised himself by integrating the psychological context that brough about his existence as a person from the subconscious and the past into his walking conscious life.

I also like to think as the Moon reflects sunlight from the other side of the world, so too do works we consume reflect the light of higher ideals unto our souls.

How worth reading is Case Files and Adventures? I thought the anime was just okay though I liked the premise and the characters generally, but it seems incredibly fanfiction-y.

Finished Mahoyo volume 1. Here's some of the stuff I noticed. In addition to these, there were also lots of minor changes like simple rewordings and adding detail where images would have sufficed in the game. I'm sure there's also plenty I'm missing.

- Prologue is in first person わたし
- Chapter 1 (p88) Added description of Alice reacting to Soujuurou's dumb question as reported by Aoko 「他の教室は何に使うんだ？」 - ちょっと面白い、という所感をこぼしかけて同居人は手にした本の頁を捲る
- Chapter 2 (p107) Replaced mob's classmate's suggestion that Tobimaru turned gay after Aoko rejected him with her asking if he got 女の子恐怖症（アオコノフォビア）

Combat for Shiki Ryougi and Tohno while we're at it works in a novel format but it's silly when animated unless they do a cut every second like in the TsukiR opening. Basically she only runs at 50 kph or 31 mph, that is the speed of an indoor cat and not even as fast as a large dog breed let alone a wolf. It's not anime supersonic speed, it's Western vampire speed. Shiki vs Asagami on the bridge is awful in the movie, there's no way she should be able to dodge Asagami's eyes unless she moved at anime speeds.

To do that you'd need at least subsonic speed.

Why wouldn't you become a demigod if you're a vampire with basic regeneration? No circuits? No problem! Use your body as a circuit, if you start destroying it take a break until it regenerates. Even obtaining Mystic Eyes is piss easy for a vampire that can regenerate his eyes, meanwhile a mage has one shot and the chances of going blind are incredibly high. 3. Freshly turned vampires aren't magical by default, it's just that Shiki had Amazon's Alexa in his head. 4. Arcueid isn't even a vampire, she's a wild Elemental with a physical body. Nasu is definitely a powerscaler. He compared Arcueid's basic claw attacks to a modern tank shell and Ciel's black keys to an old school 1800s cannon. What does this mean? I'll admit that the old Mirror Moon translation I played back in the day made the magecraft explanations very awkward and confusing compared to the Remastered version (now I actually understand how magecraft works), but the first typo I noticed in the old MM version was during one of Rin's lectures on Day 8 or 9. With the Remastered version I've noticed over a dozen typos by Day 10 and I'm ESL myself. WTF? Can't they get native English speakers to translate Japanese entertainment? This is embarrassing.

Well I used a comparative (better), not saying it's necessarily good in a consistent way. Also I suspect each route may have been translated by a different person. But as thankful as I am for the Mirror Moon tl there is something about its phrasing that sometimes me a headache, as if it's shrouded in a cloud of abstraction. The remastered version was all in all just more pleasant to read imo.
