That's why I kinda like Shiravune. While some of their translations might be a little questionable; they are one one of the only publishers who get shit done, and don't stall projects for years, for no discernible reason. I am looking forward to seeing how Kagami Games handles things. So far, they had been fairly promising.

I think for MG and Sekai they've just slowed down operations entirely because of retardation. MG focused too much on their own store instead of the Steam audience and Sekai has pretty much lost all goodwill from the community at this point. I think them announcing Hamidashi Creative/Parfait and then cancelling, or releasing in them in Chinese later was the final nail in the coffin for Sekai.

This is actually tied to something someone here said - actually it might not have been here, it might have been on vndb. But they said that AI was going to kill actual fan translations. And I thought that didn't make any sense. Wouldn't it speed up fan translations and double and triple them? And now I realize that no, that person was correct. As the driving motivation behind fan translations is how much we the readers would be excited for a translation and the dopamine high the translator gets from that. But now it's all whatever. I mean people still care, but they don't care nearly as much. So the translator naturally doesn't care as much either.
I think that this also applies to professional work. They still make deals and release things, because they need to put food on the table, but the excitement people have and thus motivation you have to work is not there anymore so it takes longer.
Shiravune meanwhile seems to be using AI so this doesn't apply to them. They also probably have more people on staff thanks to chinese money.
