Making a big budget rhythm game doesn't make sense in today's market. Rhythm games are already really niche and diva was targeting a niche within a niche with only loid vocals and Vocaloid songs. Most hardcore rhythm players don't even play the bigger budget ones anyway, they usually either play the mobile ones like sekai or they just play OSU with some of them also going irl arcades for maimai but that's really it. Considering even the most accessible and marketed rhythm games like Rhythm Heaven struggle to hit 1 million copies in sales something like project diva (which would cost more to develop because of MVs alone) would be a net negative in revenue I guess. Knowing SEGA's greed, they would probably price it at $70 too which would just turn a lot of people off.Also since you can mod in every semi-popular Vocaloid song to every popular rhythm game + some of them just officially adding them to their list, I don't really see people actually asking for a new diva game too much considering you can still play your favorite Vocaloid songs with the gameplay mechanics of your choice on other rhythm games.

I would personally care more about something closer to project mirai but with loid daily life stuff expanded. I don't know why they haven't done something like that where you just take care of loids, design their living space and play some mini-games + rhythm game to buy new stuff.
