Somehow, rhythm games returned.prev: 51243620We've reached unprecedented levels of dead so I might have to make this the last one. I don't know.Probably should have bumped it myself but was busy and complacent.

I wish I had stuck with playing rhythm games. I never got to a level where I was satisfied with myself
>>51270478Can't be too late to pick them up again unless you're like 60+.
WONDERFUL NEWSm*niafags in shambles after the amount of 4 key world cup comissioned songs went down from 8 last year to 3 this year(and two of those are by Camellia and Gardens who are almost guaranteed to be doing something for osu most of the time) because artists have been declining regardless of money.m*nia is expected to be most affected out of all of the minigames. It is the closest in gameplay to dozens of licensed rhythm games, increasing amount of which will close the door to an artist with a past in unlicensed games unless they're already well-established. Additionally, others have a wider pool of artists who don't care about other rhythm games, because clicking circles has enough of a following to still be worth it for a decent amount of artists, and taiko and fruit catching have musicians who are actual players, because there's fuck all happening in those minigames so they have to spend their time somehow. The biggest sign to watch will be the 7 key tournament at the beginning of the next year, which also had 8 custom songs last time. If it's down too then m*nia being undesirable among rhythm game artists will be a confirmed trend. Either that or they will try to scramble something from players who started producing music for the Locus contest.
>music diver shutting down in Japan but staying online in NAdamn, I feel like it's not often that you see that happendo all of the JP drummers just play gitadora I guess?
>>51271644>3wrong>Camellia vs. Kaminose Tsukasa>d.j.xaneiro>NormalM vs. f2>Sasuke Haraguchi>kolaa>GardensDon't know where you learned to count, but that's 6.There is however a reason why I suspect most of these declined, and it's the ridiculous requirements for making a song that would fit a chart at this high of physicality level. In other modes something else gets in the way, but in mania you're just pushing buttons, and especially in 4K, people learned to push buttons stupid fast.Look at "!!! IMPULSIVE <!!> WAVE !!!"(yes, that is the title) by Luze, an original from last year. A lot of artists likely just go "I have to make something like that? Yeah, no, I'll pass." and never reply again. And because artist outreach for all official world cups and all of the featured artists program is done by just smoogi and mango, they probably burned a bunch of artists for all of osu. Another example, although from the unofficial 1K cup, which is apparently a thing, is 1KXYZ(yes, that is also the title, pronounced "ikuseisou"). Silentroom, who is my GOAT, and before this track I believed could never compose anything that isn't pure gold, clearly at some point just went "Here's the sounds that match your spec now fuck off".Contrast this with catch. Every original, and I mean every single one, is an absolute banger. And it's because you can make a catch map out of anything. The mappers can just ask "Make a song that supports $THING", where $THING can be "streams", "stop-and-go patterns", "jumps of varying width at same speed" et cetera, most of which can be explained even to an artist with zero rhythm game experience. Musicians then put down a basic rhythm structure in 10 minutes, if that, and can spend the remaining months perfecting a single song, because one of the good things about osu originals is that they are reached out for a really long time in advance. This also mostly applies to standard, but there are some map pool slots that are best left to artists who played the game, for example grand finals NM4(slider tech) was from XenjeS for two years in a row now.In my opinion, funding originals for mania, especially 4K, hurts osu long term because of all the artists that get burned on it, and should be stopped. Unfortunately peppy won't have the balls to do that, because despite mania coming out a decade after catch and taiko, 4k mania alone has almost double the ranked playcount of non-4k mania, taiko and catch combined(1,22 billion vs 629 milion combined). Despite that number being relatively small compared to standard playcount(25,8 billion), that's still a lot of angry people who will stop buying banners and supporter tags, which would cut into the bottom line.
What's the go to spring/switch setup these days?I'm trying to break into 12s again and finding my 50/25 set up way too heavy, but maybe I'm just weak

Just make a new thread once a month. The people who complain will do so no matter what anyway. Let them.On a recent visit I saw a drum player on GFDM who was good, but also was wearing a custom made t shirt that had the in game "Skill" icon taking up the full size of the back. That's a choice.
>>51286418Haven't actually seen any complaints recently, it's just that we're dead as fuck. But I suppose I could start delaying new threads a bit more for now.
dead threaddead boarddead gamesdead culture
>>51291372>dead games>dead cultureIs this actually true though? I see zoomers and even kids occupying all the rhythm games at round1 whenever I go. I assume the culture has simply mostly shifted to discord.
>>51291590in my eyes the following games are dead>every konmai game>wacca quite literally>smx>pump it up kind of>groove coaster>taikothe culture on dicksword or whatever else people use is mostly circlejerking and gatekeeping which can be good when not overdone but in this case people usually go "acthually thats not x difficulty but x-1 or y.8 not allowed in our secrit club"
Sound voltex is a game for people who have completely given up on life
>>51293069Can confirm.
>>51291633>"acthually thats not x difficulty but x-1 or y.8 not allowed in our secrit club"There haven't been any meaningfully sekrit clubs in years. How hurt feelings and buttranged are you that someone said Elisha SPH isn't a real 10 or something.
>>51291372this whole website is dead, it really is the last place you ever want to try and get invested in these days.
