On the topic of shapeshifting, how the fuck do the Yokai Earth rabbits work? When depicting Earth Rabbits, Touhou typically resorts to showing them as Tewi clones with hair swaps. (And most fan derivative work stick to this depiction) But sometimes they actually show them as literal rabbits. And then there's Imperishable Night stage 5 onwards where the stage grunt enemies are fucking unholy abominations of fairies(?) with rabbit ears grafted to them. Do Earth Rabbits just shapeshift for shits and giggles? Is Eirin doing some body horror mengele shit in Eientei?And what about the Moon Rabbits? Do they also have the same shapeshifting abilities?
