How does one fully self-actualize as an otaku? Is watching Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star, and Azumanga Daioh mandatory?Am I required to purchase figures, tankobon and an IKEA BILLY bookcase? Is there a recommended curriculum or do I just keep buying things until I feel complete?

Creating/producing and the mandatory organic passion to do so in the first place. You don't even have to be talented/skilled, "producing" could be as simple as taking part in some discussion of something overlooked, forgotten, or an ancient fandom. Just these theoreticals have formed frameworks/ideas for works of media that would themselves carry on a similar legacy. Also using the...unique perspectives and curcumstances that tend to follow this subculture to create something that it in itself perpetuates these kind of questions and media.
You don't self-actualize as an otaku until you are fully content with yourself and you feel like a god sitting in your dark basement lair listening to 15+ year old doujin music.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWHGjptbrJo
