Good evening /brg/ I have some news about my Cetme.I got my flat and barrel so It's time for a press. Tried using a 3D printed cetme jig to bend it without a press and it started breaking due to the infill being not enough. will print a new one or make myself a new one from unistrut if someone is willing to link to a forum post or blog on how to fashion one from said material.
Man, I really need to start lifting again.

Does DSA produce steel FAL mags in batches? I seem to recall FAL Guy on youtube claiming that DSA was going to be more consistent with manufacturing them. Why are surplus FAL mags so rare compared to G3 mags anyway?
>>65148166
Reposting from last thread, I finally got a battle rifle. Next step is sling, mags, and ammo; will hold off on optics for now.
>someone bought the last SA58 OSW from DSA’s website before I got off workFML my birthday is on the 27th and I’ll probably have to wait months for them to build more of those. I really want the quadrail and not the new mlok faggotry.
MR762A4 to G28 progress
>>65148649Looking good.
>>65149305How accurate is that lmt?
>>65149490Extremely with the 20" 5R cut barrel. I typically feed it commercial 175gr SMK loads (FGMM) and it can extract everything that cartridge and I are capable of. I would suspect 1/2 MOA or better with precise hand loads and a top shelf shooter from what I've experienced.
Any ideas on my muzzle device issue from the last thread? So far:>Determined it isn't pinned.>Let it soak in hot water for over an hour and managed to get it to loosen one quarter turn.>Heat gun that could go up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit had no effect, meaning it's probably not Loctite. My guess is that this guy used a hideous amount of Rocksett or it's cross-threaded. I am going to use a sacrificial pot and boil the barrel for four or five hours next week. If it still won't budge, I am going to guess I have to take it to a gunsmith or just cut my losses and find a replacement barrel since it'd probably work out to being similar in terms of cost as the gunsmiths down here are all fudds that charge a hilarious amount per hour on top of being slow as molasses.
>>65149929Soak in hot CLP
>>65149929if its not cross threaded you could always soak it in a solvent. Might have to let it sit for a few days. Will be a pain in the ass to rig though.
>>65149936Best way to do that without giving me super cancer?
>>65149499>1/2 MOA or betterNice, I use 175 fgm too. I have gotten groups like that but I can't do it consistently. Pic rel was 200 yards. I think I might need to get one of those stocks or get creative and rig a cheek rest together. How is the gas on that rifle?
>>65150031Not indoors. Do a propane stove outside with a water bath.
>>65150491Like most of LMT's monolithic rifles, violently gassed. Reliable as all get out, but definitely not tuned for pleasure.
>>65150666How heavy is your buffer? I'm using a standard a2 I think. What about your charging handle do you get a lot of gas from that? I was looking at the lmt one originally but at the last second I went against my gut.
>>65148239I've never heard of anyone bending a G3 flat without a shop press.
>>65148269Am back, went to gym and lifted yesterday, everything hurts.
>>65148382Congratulations.I'm seeing this and thinking back on what changes I made to mine.A trigger job or trigger replacement will help with hitting stuff further away. An extended charging handle is nice to have.Don't try to use the sling ring up front if you're putting a lot of tension in your sling to help you stabilize for a shot; the ring is attached to the triple front sight frame and the barrel. So when you put pressure on that ring, you're pulling your barrel slightly off target. Learn the system; how to check bolt gap with feeler gauges, and how to take the bolt group apart and put it back together with the rollers unlocked so that it fits back in the rifle. There is a trick to doing it.
>>65150782Whatever buffer they ship in the MWS rifles. Honestly no idea what they default to, but all of their barrel lengths and accompanying ports/gas systems are tuned to the same MWS buffer. No gas through the charging handle, but I don't suppress my rifle. When I say it's violently gassed, it's not so absurd to be a problem, it just definitely leans over-gassed relative to many systems that try to balance comfort and ease with reliability.
>>65150782>>65152276You spurred me to actually look into it:>The factory LMT .308 MWS uses a carbine-length H3 buffer (approx. 5.5 oz) paired with a specific extended receiver extension (buffer tube) that is roughly 3/4″ longer than a standard AR-15 tube. >The system is designed to use this "short" 3.25" AR-15 style H3 buffer rather than longer, specialized .308 buffers

>>65149929Rubber mallet for rockset. Surprisingly, this works really well. For lubricating the threads and unsticking things, use marvel mystery oil or kroil. You need a fluid that has good capillary properties. PB Blaster works too, but kroil and marvel smell good. For things like this I don't use firearm-specifc oils/solvents. If you need to get medieval, there's the option of cutting the muzzle device open with a dremel. Cut it long-ways like a hot dog being extra careful not to cut into the threads or barrel. Once enough material is removed then you can pry it carefully to loosen it.

>>65170043Ideally you'll only use one once. Maybe another time if you get a new barrel you want to install. Its been about 9 years since I bought mine, its in a box somewhere in my garage. Anyway, aren't they only like 135 bucks for a receiver wrench and barrel vice?
>>65170759Not him but what else do you need for a build? I've built plenty of ars but I'm assuming this is more involved?

>>65170798>else do you need for a build?A 1941 Dodge WC-26 4x4.
>>65170798Besides the barrel vice and receiver wrench, you'll need a torque wrench, a bunch of pin gauges and go/no-go and a field gauge to determine your headspace, you'll likely need to order a locking shoulder to fit the headspace (unless the one that came with your parts kit happens to be the right size), timing rods is nice to have for getting the barrel timing right (though I always just eyeballed it), having a press can be useful for inserting your locking shoulder, though not necessary, and a bench vise is needed too. I think that covers it all.

Must not spend money. Need to buy house.
>>65170759The only one I'm seeing in stock is $150 at Brownells, which isn't too expensive, but every dollar I save is another round of .308 to feed the finished rifle. Plus I hear the Brownells one is worse than the FALfiles ones, problem is the FALfiles thread has been dead for 3 years so I have no idea if that guy still sells them or not. >>65168424If you ever find yourself looking to put together a .308 or 6.5 mememoor precision rifle, you could definitely use that MWS as a platform and grab one of their 5R barrels. I expected a relatively accurate package with the 20" 5R barrel given my previous experience with their 5R barrel in a 5.56 MRP, but this thing still managed to surprise. Sub-MOA capable all day and if you need to swap back and forth between barrels, the return to zero after a barrel change has been within a couple tenths of a mil the couple times I've done it with the MWS.Alternatively, if you ever want to ditch it there were dudes paying $6,000-$8,000 for that thing since it was a (((rare))) and (((limited))) release. No idea if there are still people willing to go full retard or not.
>>65174322That's cool brownells is selling a set of tools. I'd just message that guy on FAL files see what's up. I'd lend you mine except I have no idea where it is and I'm pretty sure I'm just straight up missing the bolts.

Hey friends, refresh my memory on why POF Rogue 308s suck? Was it the shitty 1:8 barrel twist making it a 3moa gun with common ammo or was it something else? I found a deal on one with a CF 18.5in barrel for 1100 brand new. Only shitty part about this particular model is everyone is listing the specs slightly different (as far as non-handguard furniture and small parts) and its unclear what the actual twist is and gas length since every site and listing shows a tiny stock photo that are inconsistent on every site and listing. If I am remembering right that the POFs problem was the barrel, then getting one with a CF barrel not made by POF should be okay, and fingers crossed its a 1:10 - 1:12 instead of retarded 1:8 since majority of CF barrel makers dont do retarded twist rates. Thoughts? There is maybe one post on the entire internet from the various gun boards that even mention this model exists, and it doesnt really say anything.

I expected it to be either a DSA Cold Warrior ($1600) with an H&R rollmark and some turkish walnut furniture for like $1800-2000, or the $2500 T48 Style FALO DSA already makes with an H&R rollmark and that $17 T48 trigger guard instead of a bipod. $3300 is fucking ludicrous.
>>65195366What store?
>>65195227>why is everything cool so expensive?Something like 40-50% of the burgerbux in existence were created during the 2020-2022 timeframe. Everything cool has always been expensive but that's why everything is suddenly extremely expensive.
>>65195483So what you're saying is that McDonald vouchers for literal hamburgers are a worth more and have greater stability than the BurgerBux™ printed by the Federal Reserve, because the McDonald's vouchers are backed by physical products with an intrinsic and objective value, while federal reserve notes are backed by fuck-all?

Am I retarded for wanting a 16" 7.62 AR but leave it with iron sights ?
>>65195548Yes. Unless the "7.62" you're talking about is x39 or x45 (.300blackguy).
>>65195552I mean I already have two others with optics. Why not just do another with a flashlight and good irons or something?
Is a SR-25 carry handle worth anything?
>>65195528We rate 2.
>>65195552>Unless the "7.62" you're talking about>Browning
>>65195599At least the going rate.
>>65195560>Why notBecause it's a pointless and stupid waste of money. It's the firearms equivalent of shoehorning a supercharged 1200hp big block V8 into a Corolla and trying to use it as a weekday commuter car in congested city traffic. If you're only going to use it as a range toy, and you're fine with burning cash on a rifle that has no real practical application of any kind, and gets mogged in every measurable regard by a literal first gen AK-47, then go for it.If that's not the case, then don't.A .308 with a barrel that short has no meaningful performance advantage over an intermediate caliber rifle, just more muzzle blast, more flash, more recoil, and it shoots more expensive ammo loaded with superfluous powder that only gets wasted and combusts outside of the barrel.
>>65195528wtf there's another one?

>>65196010Upon visiting this thread from the front page I have evaluated your posts. As the original poster was talking about a 16" 7.62x51mm build and not in fact sticking a 1200hp motor in a corolla, or sticking a firecracker in his pee hole, I am forced to agree with the other poster. Your posts are the next best thing to hysterics and do in fact appear to qualify as a "melty".Good day.
>>65196010I don't think he should for other reasons but just chill, a lot of people have to get a phase out of their system with ar10s and then after that they do sensible things.
>>65196010Sticking a firecracker in your dickhole is not the same as having a gun with ironsights. Why are you so upset over someone else's guns?
>>65196129Outright asked if his idea was dumb, I told him the truth. It's not about the irons. It's about the chode barrel. That's what makes it full-blown retarded.A 16" .308 is on the same wrung on the retardation ladder as an 10" 5.56.In a civilian context where a shooter is free to select cartridges and barrel lengths as they please, It's objectively pointless and retarded to an indefensible degree. The only conceivable scenario where such a rifle makes any kind of sense is a scenario where .308 is the only ammo available due to convoluted logistical reasons and an organization has to make the best of a bad situation because they have no other choice.Even then it wouldn't be a good rifle or a good idea, it would be a nigger-rigged bodge job.As previously mentioned, it's just a plain bad idea and in every measurable aspect it would get mogged by first-gen AKs, MP/STG-44s, and even Volkssturmgewehrs. That's how fucking bad of a rifle it would be.
>>65196176You are retarded lol
>>65196176>objectively pointless and retarded to an indefensible degree.>the postDude, that's, just, like, your opinion, man.
>>65196176This is about barrel length? 16" is fine. I went 18 and might go 20 next time but 16 is fine.
>>65196129>Sticking a firecracker in your dickhole is not the same as having a gun with ironsights.Imagine a world where it is, though... imagine. https://youtu.be/YkgkThdzX-8?si=ylo8q0pLLmnrmwcy
>>65196176>the most popular barrel for just about any current AR10 manufacturer is absolute worthless dogshit to the max and gets mogged by any smaller caliber Bruh go take your meds. What are suggesting then a fucking 30 inch barrel? The differences between 16, 18, and even 20 aren't that significant
>>65196244>a fucking 30 inch barrelImagine...

>>65196258/arg/ meta is 13" for .308.
>>65196264>13" meta for 308they really are a group of homosexuals arent they
So I have an extra vudu 1-10 lying around. Is it worth putting that on a 6.5 20s? its seems a little underpowered for that
>>65196334I think 1-10 is good enough for most practical stuff. The kicker would be the objective lens size. I'm also eyebox picky
>>65196334Underpowered compared to no scope?
>>65196334Sell it and get an mpvo instead
>>65196334I would want way more especially for 6.5.
Aren't scars notorious for smashing optics ?
>>65196379yes but its not as big as issue as some make it out to be. As long as you have a decent rugged optic youre fine.
>>65196379Yes, but it's a lot less of a problem now. It can still happen though, but optics have just gotten tougher in general so that's kinda nullified the problem. I still remember (and wish I had the YouTube video) from 2009-2010, right when the SCAR came out some /k/ommando posted his first time at the range with his SCAR-17 and it completely cracked his ACOG's glass in just a couple of mags.
>>65196546Wild that special forces dudes loved that gun and they exclusively ran acogs, elcans, and razors
>>65195227>Exceedingly rare collectible with plenty of demand>why is it so expensive?Same reason folks pay $15k-$25k for the full M110 deployment kit. Desireable stuff with limited quantities are going to demand a premium price.
>>65196176This is why we don't sit in generals with obnoxious tripfags huffing their own farts constantly folks.
>>65195663Do a food analogy next!
>>65197399Eating a 12 oz steak is absolutey retarded beyond any reason when a 14 or 16 oz steak exists. Your 12 oz steak offers nothing substantial and will get mogged by any double cheeseburger or large burrito. Why anyone would even consider a 12oz steak is absurd beyond measure. I can't offer any stats or data regarding nutritional value or weight ratios to back up my claim but just trust me bro. You're dumb for wanting a 12 oz steak, even if you aren't that hungry or have enough sides to fill you up.
>>65148166Thinking about picking up an FAL I saw at a local fun store. Their both DSA paras ones 18' the other 16'. I've been wanting to get a proper battle rifle for awhile but I'm not 100% sure what im getting into as the only thing I have to compare it to would be my Garand. So I guess compared to that how much is this rifle gonna kick my ass, and is their anything I need to know about ammo preferences, and magazines I also saw the pastebin said their hit and miss but videos and reviews ive seen online said their fine so im not really sure what to think.
>>65197810I had an 18" DSA. Super overgassed. But a fun gun. I ultimately sold it and went with AR platform instead due to easier use with optics and adjustable piston
>>65197839how well did it run? did it take everything you fed it?
>>65195548Yes. It should be 11”, no longer than 14”. How are you going to properly immunize yourself to flash bangs otherwise?
This thread might be less aids than arg. Anyone here shoot a Springfield saint victor .308? With Aero being kill, plain-ass forged AR-10s are getting rare. My second opinion is a DD5 16.”
>>65197839Your DSA FAL should have had an adjustable gas block, often times they get set high from the factory to ensure they cycle.
>>65197884It was fine. It was honestly just a phase. I was in flgiht school and had money to burn and my roommates all got a different variant DSA. I didnt like it as much as my M1A and then for practical use, I chose the AR10.
>>65197810>>65197884>>65198135DSA has a bunch of options as I'm sure you've seen. I do like the 18" the best and I think the picatinny dust cover is good to have, even if you don't use it. It was a pretty gun. Mags were hard to find and expensive.
>>65198146I heard about the mags being an issue, doesnt DSA make mags for the gun? If those are a problem what would you recommend? but yeah I was down the road planning to get picatinny dust cover and rails for it.
>>65197476imo the steak should fill you up on it's own, the sides are extra credit.
>>65198146>Mags were hard to find and expensive.where do you find magazines for these things? only place I've seen them is way over priced on gun broker.

>>65198448I simply don't remember. I want to say that it came with a polymer mag and I wanted metal? DSA does make some metal makes. Me being an AK guy, I wanted the the real thing when it comes to mags so I paid the premium for surplus. I am not an FAL expert so you really shouldn't keep asking me what I recommend. I'm just a dude who bought a DSA once
